This is a new thing for me lately. I'm constantly running one hand thru my hair, pulling at it, even pulling a few loose strands out.
It's almost subconscious like I don't realize I'm doing it. Is this...weird??!! |

I had a friend who used to do that. Maybe it relieves anxiety?

my daughter went through a stage of doing this so she had a very wide parting, she was astressful child and was being bullied in school, she did stop eventually, sorry you are going through this

If it helps, you're not alone - I do the same thing. I stop short of actually pulling the hairs out now, but at one point I practically had a bald patch at the top of my head, and it was a very hard thing to quit! It's been almost 17 months, and I still struggle sometimes.
Do you know what makes you want to do this? I find it gets worse when I'm bored or under stress, which is why I usually slip up at exam time. ![]() Anyway, hopefully seeing as you've noticed this early (took me about four years to realise anyone else did it!), it won't become a problem. ![]() ![]()

Oh yeah ((((((((((Razzleberry))))))))))))) I find myself doing the same thing when I'm stressed.

Well, I figured out one solution - put my hair up so it's not hanging down.
Only now...i'm re-doing the scrunchie every 5 minutes. What the???!! |

It is called Trichotillomania. It is a type of psychological urge to pull out your hair, and is much more common in females than males.
It was first studied in 1889 and it is believed to be due to a chemical imbalance in the brain. It is a compulsive behavior and most people that do it also have other compulsive behaviors as well. |
