Hi, I am new to this forum but I have a question. I am a student therapist working on my master's degree. I have found that several clients have a very difficult time securing employment after having been convicted of a felony. Any ideas on resources I could refer them to? It isn't that they don't WANT to work, it's that no one will HIRE them. This is an unfortunate setback for most who really just want to get their lives set back in order. Thanks!!

gee... I'm not in the loop any more but there is at least one organization that employers who will hire such workers sign up and become members of... and isn't there federal monies (or used to be) for employers who hire them? Have you tried a search?

yeah, I tried a search...and federal monies for community mental health seem to be dwindling at an alarming rate...I just feel bad because the whole point of getting a job for these folks is so they can start over with their lives in a LEGAL fashion. Thanks for the advice!

Have you checked out the Mental Health Treatment Courts, they may have some suggestions.

I don't have a clue, but wished I did. My daughter has a felony that is 7 years old and she still has problems with employment. She can never get a decent job unless she lies on her application, then when they find out, she is released. She has a very difficult time because she can not support herself and her son. Mental Health was trying to help her, but so far they have not come through with anything.
