Y'all, please keep us in your thoughts over the next 24 hours. We've had two separate tornado warnings, and the storms keep coming. One cell (the first) had three separate back to back rotations, with several sightings of funnel clouds. Now there are reports that several tornadoes have been spotted just south of us.

More storms are coming in from the West for tonight and in the AM...oh, sirens going off again right now...lovely.

Tomorrow morning we're to have more, then more to kick up in the afternoon tomorrow. It's just a REALLY active 24-hour period for storms right now.

Hopefully we'll continue to dodge the tornadoes in this, but keep us in your thoughts please. Tornado warnings and it ain't over yet

KD~
Already have been thinking of you guys down that way. I've been tracking the storms. We were supposed to get them earlier also. But somehow the system split. THIS is one reason I dont mind winter!! LOL This past Friday night there were 2 tornadoes to the NW and NE of us by about 12 miles each.. Still too close for comfort.

Just be as prepared as possible .. flashlights, water, pillows to protect your heads and blankets too. Keep us posted as you can.

Oh wow kimmy. Please please please be safe (Ok, I know you WILL but I feel sort of protective and want to tell you anyways) and do whatever you need to do.

Do you have a storm cellar or anything in case of one?

Thanks guys. Tornado warnings and it ain't over yet

We have all the supplies AND a HUGE basement...what a relief. We've not gone down yet because with the first warning the sirens didn't go off until the threat was past us (go figure). Actually, a store just three miles from us reported a funnel cloud and they sent the warnings up after that which had the threat past us.

With the second cell and warning, it was for the southern part of our county...one city down...about 10 miles from us...whew. They're just all around right now and expected through tomorrow night. I actually pray for the less sunshine tomorrow for less fuel to the potential.

Beth, I'm glad it wasn't you but so understand the too close for comfort. Glad you're OK.

KD

hehe...

before i could submit this, lightening and thunder sent me running inside with my laptop.

night, y'all!

There was only one time were I can recall a Tornado hitting my area and even so I wasn't living in that specific town, but one of the neighboring areas (specificaly schuylerville, which was just a bit north of that area). I can't imagine living out in the west, tornadoes scare the crap out of me.

keeping you guys in my heart.

Stay safe, we are getting bad weather in my area too. I guess there were a few house and a covered wooden bridge completely destroyed in the neighboring county earlier this evening.

The storms came through Kansas City around 6:00 p.m. this evening.

We are south of there, and do not have a basement, which makes it all extra scarey, when our area is threatened.

Yes, we had the same thing here almost a week ago. Thousands of people still with out power. More storms last night & more in forecast. Makes me want to be back in Calif. with the earthquakes (though we did have a big one here in IN recently). Really don't like this weather; warnings all the time about one dire event or another--sirens & alarms going off.--Suzy

suzy,

I can only imagine how that feels for you. I hope things calm soon.

We had storms long into the night and awoke to severe ones early this a.m. We have more coming in from southern IN as we speak. They look strong but I haven't been on TV to know what they're saying.

That should be the last round and what we're left with will be 4-7 inches that's fallen and lying on the ground with nowhere to go...forecasted to make extreme humidity with high temps these next few days. Whew...

We have another round to go of the severe, then just a chance of pop-ups for a few days...

Thanks everyone for the well-wishes and I'll be back later on this evening after it's all done!

Love,

KD

Our house was hit by lightning in one of these storms so I am now paranoid about that. Blew everything out (clocks, computer, phones, TV, alarm system, sprinkler system--that is how the firefighters thought it travelled into our house--even the door bell & started some electrical fires so fire dept had to come).

We lived in S.F. for the last big eathquake & then to move out here & have all this stuff going on--not doing very well with it.--Suzy

We're in the middle of them again down in Cincy and surrounding counties. We finally got into the new house, and I got to try out the basement last night with two cats who were puffed up and freaking out. Lovely. I think they counted four funnels last night, but when I got home about forty minutes ago, a "vortex" whipped through our area and it was something to watch. Never did touch the ground, but bent the trees double and blew rain in SIDEWAYS!!! We were without power for a while, thank God for laptops.

My husband was there on business, and he said he had a "great view" of the fire from his hotel room. Sounds really scary. Glad you're okay.

That was sure scary this afternoon. I'm not sure I can recall so many storms with rotations in them according to the radar at once. The poor TV meteorologist could barely keep up with them. I almost took shelter in the basement today with the dog when the winds were the strongest. We didn't have a tornado warning, but it was blowing so hard, I was afraid anyway.

Glad everyone's okay and looking forward to hubby coming home tonight.

Wow, yeah!

I'm glad everyone so far has stayed safe through them!

Yes, MANY rotations and vortexes not touching the ground. My goodness, the straight-line winds here tonight were downright scary...they came blowing in some very scary wall clouds. I saw minor rotation but nothing big. Right after, our tornado sirens went off...twice. Police sirens everywhere as well.

Back to back storms with more rotations and vortexes than can be counted in just over 24 hours. It's been crazy!

I'm glad we're all safe. Daughter, hubby and baby are still here because there's no electric there...many outages. They'll probably have to stay the night because of formula needing to stay cold and no AC.

Felt so safe knowing we could just get to basement. Now, that's not the case with David. He's five now (almost six) with much more awarenesses. Storms never bothered him, but now he has the understanding of danger, hurt, death even and was almost hysterical last night, and certainly was tonight. I literally had to pat his bottom to sleep...poor baby. I reminded him that if a tornado was coming, we'd go to basement to be safe and so he had to ask if each of his loved ones have a basement. It was still little comfort.

What a trip!

KD

We had that strange tornado situation in February....way out of character....many roofs torn off that still aren't fixed today.....we had 15 torradoes touch down in that February storm. Coming from California....that wasn't something I was ready for at all...especially in the winter.

The city has the sirens, but I live about 7 miles out of town & can't hear anything of the sirens out here. I purchsed one of those NOAA radios & keep that on alarm to warn me.....would be lost without that. Luckily I have a huge basement. Have to stay away from the 2 sliding doors if anything would blow out.

Different weather to learn how to live with, when all I had in California were earthquakes every once in awhile.

((((((((((((KD))))))))))))))))),
Good to see you back & functioning again....Hope your pain is a easing up a bit & feeling much better.

Debbie

We had a tornado touch down about 2 miles north of us. It got really ugly out.. green skies.. I took pictures until it wasnt safe to be near windows then went to basement.

Our nephew is out sailing on Lake Erie right now, and the storms are headed that way. I hope his parents can reach him to get out of there soon.

I will never complain about winter again lol
