I tried to call twice but could not get connected. I also sent an e-mail comment. I watched/listened a little and thought it was the usual Torrey. I cannot stand to listen to him for very long.

Haven't watched the program yet, but I intend to catch it online. However, I just heard a comment from the peanut gallery here at home; "It should be like it is in Scotland; 'Guilty, but insane.' The person is still found guilty and put away. Here, the person goes free because they are insane."

Don't know for sure if this is correct or not (in Scotland), but I completely agree with the statement above.

Well....my understanding is that if a person is found not guilty by reason of insanity they are typically remanded to a forensic psychiatric hospital and required to stay until the docs decide they are no longer a danger to self or others. That could be a short while (not standard), years, or the rest of their life. So they can be held there longer than they would have been if they were found guilty and sent to prison.
