I usually don't have problems dealing with anger but lately I've been getting really worked up at my son's little league games. He had a game tonight (playoffs). To make a long story short they lost (but they'll be another one tomorrow (championships). I get so heated up at these games (I don't yell and scream or anything like that). But I do feel my blood boiling and I want to rip someones head off. I am a very competitive person and played ball myself so I'm more into it then most mothers. I don't like this feeling and I'm afraid it's getting the best of me, is there a method to controlling it?

I suppose finding out what is really making you angry would help. It could be it's triggering you to a similar situation or situations where things weren't "fair" for you? Or it could be a cover for sadness, such as if you were never able to play or be on a team. You could also be transferring the need/desire to not let it happen to your child, that makes it so emotional, or added to your feelings if maybe your parents didn't come to your "rescue" when things weren't made good for you?

Is there a method to keeping your cool. It's worth working on... going to games and feeling great about yelling them on is fun!

I've always played ball from the time I was five till after I graduated high school. I guess a little of my frustration is that I have no control of the game, when I was playing I could do something. But what was really bothering my was the other teams parents, they got our boys so rattled they were just hanging their heads, they got our pitcher to cry, everytime he walk someone or threw a ball, they would cheer real loud (very loud) (these are ten year old boys). I had to separate myself from the crowd because I didn't want to embarass myself or my son (I still watched the game from behind the outfield, I would never miss a game). I don't think it's anything deep seated, I think I just couldn't stand how they were rattling our kids. Well they played again tonight and the parents (adults) from the other team got yelled at at least three times (I had no were to run to tonight). My Mom yelled at me to calm down several times, the other parents from our team were upset too and we (the parents) usually just support our team and not get upset (I was not alone tonight, in my feelings). Anyway I don't like feeling this anger, I felt like my heart was going to jump out of my chest and I was shaky. I'm sure this isn't going to be the first time that I am exposed to these kind of people. How do you keep your cool, and not let them bother you?

it is very hard to keep your cool when your children are being mistreated. it is one of the few times that i have lost my cool. sounds like someone needs to remind the other parents that it is a game and the children can't learn good sportsmanship if they are having that kind of example set.

sorry i'm not more help, but i understand your problem.
