I hope and pray that some one out there has also experienced these. They can also be called nonepileptic or pseudo seizures(I do not care for that last one)I had no idea where the root to these were coming from untill long kept secrets of much older sisters were exposed due to other reasons. It seems they were abused but I have no memory of this but now with this new info coming to light what else can I think. Does anyone have experience with this or know cause other than abuse. I had not let theses sisters now that these seizures werenot epileptic. The past has come out months later after I had was looking for someother cause considering I had no memory of abuse.

Psychogenic seizures, sometimes called PNES (psychogenic non epileptic seizures), are very real events. Very rarely is it found that someone is faking them.

They're often associated with trauma, but that doesn't mean they're necessarily caused by it. They're also correlated with certain kinds of organic brain disease, such as concussion.

Here's some information that you may find helpful.

From a patient's perspective:

30% of epileptics who have seizure-EEG monitoring turn out to have non-epileptic seizures. Without that monitoring, no one would have known otherwise.
