about a Mom and her daughter stuck in Georgia (country not state)... Dad trying to get them home safely... I am not in total understanding what is going on, has to do with Russia and their miliatry "inavding" Georgia...there have been reports of "combat" and its a very dangerous situation at the moment...

Anyway, Mom is native from that country and her and daughter went to visit as they have done several times... The daughter... get this... goes to school with my daughter...!! They just graduated 6 th grade together!! She is only 12 ys old!! Quiet pleasant friendly young girl... I met her parents on a recent fleid in May and they are kind, artistic, people...

I have not told my daughter yet.... not sure I should just yet... I do not know how to link to article using this new ISP that I ahve... but its in the vermont times argus...
just in shock.... I pray they make it back home safe... I the husband/father is doing all he can working with teh american embassy to get them home safely....

just a reminder we live in a truly dangerous world. The Russian Federation and Georgia are fighting over a disputed region on the border of the two countries. There were small scale exchanges and it escalated from there.

Georgia is a staunchly pro-western nation and Bush has rightfully condemed Russian conduct in this (rightfully so) Make no mistake about Mr. Putin, you can take the man out of the KGB, but you cannot take the KGB thug enforcer out of the man. I feel very sorry for the people of the Republic of Georgia who are caught in the middle of this mess.

I wish and pray for continued safety for your friends and hopefully they can all make it ok...

I'm glad they are safe.

We cannot know the whole story of whom invade whom first over there, but rest assured both countries feel they are in the right. It is interesting that it occurred while both Putin and Bush were attending the non-political Olympics. Was shocked to read in local paper.....
