Oooooookay. I said I wanted a challenge......

Well, you know, like, the person who would be my boss is 10 years younger than me. This already is a bad place to start from.

There are about 20 of these suburban papers. I would be working for the South Milwaukee one (a tiny little burb a couple towns over from where I live). That's right -- ***I*** would be working for the South Milwaukee one. As in, THE ONLY REPORTER FOR THE ENTIRE F'ING NEWSPAPER. I would have to write a story a day, basically, plus news briefs, plus assign photos for my stories, plus a ton of other things.

Right now I get stories handed to me. My boss assigns photos. I don't mind writing briefs, I do that anyway. But this is WAY more responsibility than I'm used to, and frankly, I'm not sure I can do it.

One piece of interesting news -- it turns out I know 3 people who work for this chain! I hope they all give me glowing reports. I think. job interview....BAH

They're interviewing people through the end of next week, so my fantasy of going back to work on Monday and handing in a resignation letter is effectively dead.

Sigh. I hope Angela had better luck than I did!

Sounds like a new and possibly exciting challenge, Candy. I bet if you take things one at a time, you can do it.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you just in case. job interview....BAH

Candy,

My boss is 10 years younger than me. Other than it sometimes reminding me how many years I have wasted of my life, I'm ok with it. At least I have a job that I like. My other boss is about my age, but probably younger than me too, a little. I do wish that I were in more of a position to have those higher up jobs by now, but I have to go from where I am.

Good luck to you!

I hope you get the job, Candy. I know you can do it - I have faith in your capabilities.

I would love the challenge of running the whole thing, but then again, maybe I just like being bossy..........lol.

Good luck.

Candy, you can do anything in a supportive work place. Not only is my boss younger than I, but I have 2 colleagues with whom I work closely whose parents are about my age! Yikes. I hate to sound all philisophical on you but I think this time if it is meant to be it will happen and if not there are other adventures awaiting. By the way, anyone notice that they used to feel young and inexperienced and overnight we became the old ones? What's with that?

Candy,
Don't count yourself out before you can start. You never know you could find a knack for writing a story a day. And if this job does not work out then there is always the next one.

Chin up hun,
Jessica

It does sound challenging, but maybe you're just psyching yourself out, I'm positive you can do it, having a younger boss might be fun or interesting, you never know you might get along with them. Good luck and *hugs*!
