Well, it was long, and stressful, but I made it thru.

I got there about 15 minutes early, and was called back at 9am sharp. I interviewed with the department heads for the majority of that branch of the company. It was mostly R&D and Manufacturing. They all asked pretty much the same questions over and over, about my work history, about what I'm doing now and does any of it relate to their opening, gave me a lot of scenarios and asked me how I would handle them. They wanted to know what types of software I knwe how to use. I feel that may be one of the most impressive parts of my resume. I've made it a point to learn every kind of software I can, and learn it well. It's really paid off for me.

I was noticably nervous (at least I think I was) when I met the first Manager. It was a mix of several things, nerves, being out of the job market for a long time, low self-esteem issues. But after getting past the first one, I relaxed a bit. Everyone was very nice, and every single one of them offered me coffee My Interview. No shortage of caffiene there. One Manager, Jason, seemed less than enthusiastic about me, and sort of seemed on a mission to find holes in my abilities. I was glad when my time with him was up. Two other Managers seemed impressed with my background, especially that I had setup a Doc Control dept from the ground up. Last, I was supposed to meet with the President of the company (I believe that's what they said his title is), but he was unexpectedly called away from the office. They said that if I was one of the last few candidates selected, I would meet with him in a week to 10 days. So, for the exception of the one afore-mentioned Manager, they were all very nice, and made me feel as comfortable as could be expected.

They will be narrowing down the applicants to 2 or 3 people by next Monday. They said they will let me know either way, by emial or telephone. I'm assuming email if I wasn't picked, phone call if I was. So, I get to wait for awhile longer. No biggie, I've done it before. They said the second round of interviews will be considerably shorter too, that a good thing for sure My Interview.

Thanks everyone for all your support, and if you don't mind, keep it coming! I can use all the help I can get!

Love to all,
Greg

Yay Greg!!

I wouldn't worry too much about the one semi-unfriendly interviewer. These days companies make sure they cover all their bases, and it's not unusual for a new hire to claim a skill he simply doesn't have. Should you get hired there (and that's looking pretty good, I'd say!) he'll probably be just fine. These days you really have to play hardcore CYA - too many people bringing frivolous lawsuits.
