Well, I read this interesting article in an issue of O magazine about a girl who has psychosis. Has anyone else read it? I thought it was very interesting...although interestingly enough while reading the article, I never really thought of her thoughts and behaviors as psychotic, I guess I was just under the misconception that if you're psychotic then it would be more along the lines of thinking you're invicible.

I did not read the article but I think I am going to look it up.
I feel like so many times the media misrepresents mental health disorders. Like seriously, people with psychosis are not necessary dangerous but how many times have you seen on Law and Order the criminal is claimed to be psychotic or Schizophrenic. I get upset over this topic too often. |

I haven't read the article. What was the gist of it? I take "anti-psychotic" meds for bipolar I because I had delusional thinking (had beliefs that were not based in reality) & paranoia but I was never dangerous--but I would NEVER reveal that I take that kind of medication to anyone at work, friends, family (even kids), etc. because of the fear of stigma. I hate it even when the pharmacist fills the script as she sometimes glances at me a little funny (or am I being paranoid?)--Suzy
