I'm overwhelmed by everyones support here. I send hugs to each and every one of you. Thank you for all the prayers and thoughts.
I'm kinda lost on days here, but i'm gonna try and go day by day with ya'll. Wednesday when we came down to check out the house we stopped by a family friends to see if they were there and okay. Well Ronnie was there and sitting almost butt naked in his recliner with a generator hooked up running his fridge and a fan. We told him we had the hotel in gulfport and he, his wife and daughter ended up coming there later that evening. The next day was just a day of sitting around, ansie(sp), bored, waiting for something to happen. We made it through that day and early friday morning, Ronnie called saying his sister in law called saying the power just came on at his house. So he called his nephew, who lives two doors down from us to see about our street. Richie said also it had just come on, but its flickering off and on. Well we decided to go home either way instead of waiting to sunday to leave. Just didnt have the money for a hotel anymore. We packed and was out of there within the hour. Took us about 3 hours to get home and had to go through 2 checkpoints. One for the city, cause we have to go through it to get to St. bernard. Then one to get into St. Bernard. When we got home we had power. Had it for that day, friday. Power went out just before 6am on saturday morning and was out till late last night. We have it right now, but never know if it will go out. Because of the power going out and us hooking our computer back up the night we got back. The modem got fried and my cpu for editing got fried. We got another modem. But will have to do without a cpu for editing till the one day i ever get a job and can afford one. So no editing for me. We found out a tornado did touch down in our neighborhood. It hit the abonded house behind Richie throwing debris all over in a two block radius. Did find out that Richie has a broken window in the back of his house and the roof of his shed was ripped off. It also knocked down electrical poles down three streets. They were all down across the road. Thank goodness this thing did the majority of its damage behind us where Murphy Oil has bought all the land and making it into a green space. Announced on the news last night our water is now drinkable and the pressure will go up. It was just a trickle since we got back. Gas came on saturday. We went to the grocery in gulfport and got what we needed just for this week. Keeping a close eye on this other one out there. We had a fridge and freezer loaded down with stuff and had to throw it all away. Dont want to do that again. Also what we did put in the attic before we evacuated is going to remain there till close to the end of the season or at least the middle of October. I hope everyone else in this area or that knew someone down this way is okay. I know where the eye went ashore it was very bad. Fema is pulling back on helping them out. So local parishes in Louisiana are sending help in forms of food, water, clothes, police, firemen, etc. Fema is accusing these people of hording MRE's and water. Sick, if you ask me. I know the volunters we had here at Camp Hope went in buses and vans along with some of our police and firemen yesterday to help them. Donations are being taken at a few places down here in da parish to send food and water to them. During Katrina, like all over the states, they came right away to help us. So we feel honored to be welcomed to come help them. Ya'll in the path of Ike, watch out for him. He's an evil one. I feel so awful for what happened to Haiti. I hope to God our country is doing something to help them out. Big 'old huge hugs to all of you chalmette |

An unkindly note from me: I don't know what the US is doing for Haiti after the hurricane, but in general we spend too much money on wars and stuff to help a place like Haiti. That may come back to bite us some time in the future.

((((((((((((Chalmette))))))))))) Thank you for allowing us to support you here. While we can't physically help you there, I hope we can provide a shoulder for you to lean on for strength.
Thank you for keeping us updated about what's going on for you. Caring for others, in my opinion, helps us as well. You've got a lot of people here proud to call you friend. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
