I might not be around for a few days. The lead singer of a band that I really was killed last night in Ohio. Feeling very upset and despondent right now. This world is filled with pointless death and suffering. He was such a sweet and wonderful man. Why did this have to happen? Five people did not deserve to die at the hands of some psycho!!!
I do not know why I am so upset. I think that part of it is because I go to so many rock concerts. I could have been there. They played in Hartford on December 3rd...that was a week ago..and now he is dead. It is not fair.... Jessica

Jessica, I'm so sorry for your grief. I, too, was upset over the senseless killing that went on at that concert...please hold on and time will help. But it won't answer the question about how things like this happen......Pat

we can feel the loss shakes: "American Pie" was our way to share with each other those great losses then... but at least we have their music left to play...so they live on.

Although i never listened to any of the bands...it is still a sad day. To think that somebody is horrible enough to do that.

Thank you everyone for your kind words and support.
I do not even know why this is effecting me so much. I did not know the guy personally, but he as a person and a musician has touched me and touched the musical world that I live in. He was the nicest guy that you would ever want to meet and just because of negligence he is now gone.... I am angry and sad and scared all at the same time. I do not even know how to express what I am feeling. I have been walking around feeling like a time bomb since yesterday. Just yelling and crying and wanting to throw things. His music was beautiful and true. That is something that is truly perfect and now he is gone... We are not safe in this world that we live in. There is so much pain and violence. This morning I clung onto my boyfriend sobbing because he was leaving for work and I was afraid. I have not been like that in a long time.... Very raw right now.. Jessica

I am so sorry Jessica. The world can be so scarey. You sound like you are voicing and expressing the pain and fear and that helps. I hope you can get a little rest and peace soon.

Well just because you don't know them personally doesn't mean, I mean... music is very expressive, you get close to musicians that way.
I was really upset by the death of Layne from Alice in Chains when that happened and the fact that no-one cared enough about him to even notice he was gone for two weeks. So yeh its normal to be upset when people who influenced our lives with music die. |

I was unhappy to learn that Jhonn Balance from Coil died in an accident last month. Apparently he was drunk and fell from a landing and injured his head -- and died hours later.

Yes I can see that. Music effects me very deeply and is a huge part of my life. I feel as though I connect on a deep level with everything on a musicial level. I have been doing my own tributes to Dimebag and just trying to heal one day at a time. I too was deeply effected by the passing of Layne and also with the fact that it took someone two weeks to notice him not around. Thank you for your words..you have helped me to sort things out. The shooting happened in Ohio. The band was from Texas. The lead singer of the band...Damageplan...was the ex guitarist for Pantera. Four other people were also killed that night.
