Just want to let everyone know that KD has no power....there are about 225,000 people in her area without power and they claim it may take a week or so before everyone is turned back on again.

So, if anyone is waiting for a response from kimmydawn on anything, it will be awhile, she's not ignoring you

Hopefully I will hear from her sometime today and I'll be able to update everyone on how she is doing.

My prayers and thoughts are with you (((((((((((((( KD and Family )))))))))))))))))))))) Hope all are safe and well.

I just heard from KD....her and the family are all safe!!! YAY!!!

Now is the long wait for the power to be turned back on. She said she was told it could happen anytime between Tuesday and Thursday this week.

To all other folks in the area of Ike remnants...I hope and pray you are all safe and have power back on soon.

Thank you Sabby for the info.

WOW! A WEEK without power? I don't think I could do that! I hope she has generators or something and candles, too!

Glad she and her family are safe! Please pass on from me.

I'm one of the lucky ones in this region who's power came back on yesterday afternoon after all the damaging winds finally died down. It was really scary for several hours with the wind gusting up over 65 mph. Lots of trees and limbs down now. And now the constant sound of chain saws...

Hope KD and everyone else gets power again very soon.

Had some shingles and a barn door fly off the barn. Other than that, its ok. But yeah it was scary with some of the wind yesterday. I really feel for those who are going thru so much more around us and all those who were in the track of Ike. Thinking of all of you!!

Thank you ((((Sabby)))) for letting us know about Kimmydawn and all the people without power. Talk about "no fun"!!!

Just a reminder, many people in the Coastal areas of Texas may be out of power for up to 3 weeks - that just blows my mind to imagine that, especially with the heat and humidity - please keep all these folks in your thoughts and prayers, they sure will need them!!

We got the wind, but absolutely NO rain. I had a shutter fly of the house. I had noticed earlier in the week that it was pulling out of the brick & was on my to do list.....now it really is on my TO DO LIST with a higher priority....lol.

I got my flag down as everytime the wind dose that, it breakes the holder (I have lost 3 flag holders so far). The wicker swing on my front porch was slamming into the railing.....the dogs would go crazy barking every few minutes when it would go clunk. I finally tied it down to the railing so it would get damaged or damage anything. I had several potted plants that blew over.....One on my front porch blew the pot all the way over to the driveway about 50 ft away.

I was without of internet yesterday afternoon.....what a way to have to do housework (when I would rather be on the internet). All of our internet transmitters/receivers, are located on the water towers......winds & lightning are hard on the internet....almost sure of loosing the internet then. It actually blew off the internet equipment on one tower...(not mine but another one).

I didn't realize how much effect that would have on us all the way up here in the US ( even more north in Ohio).

Glad everyone is safe

I just heard from KD!! :dancingchili:

She had power for about an hour this morning, from 6am to 7am and it went back off.

Her hubby has work...they never lost power...so that is good

Her neighbor brought over a charger of sorts to plug into the car lighter so they can charge their cellphones YAY!!

So, KD is maintaining. The kids are restless and bored. So that can be hard to deal with. The atm machines are running out of money, she's lost almost all her food so she has to buy it day by day. She does have gas so she can cook and they have hot water for showers (that in itself is a wonderful thing!!)

Hoping and she has power back on for good sometime today....

Hope others in that area are back up and running soon!

Oh I noticed she dropped off the map for a while, and am glad that she is personally doing fine. Going without power is always tough (unless you're a seasoned camper.)

I wish everyone well who are struggling with storms. TC

My mom is in the same situation in Louisville, Ky. She doesn't have power and they said it could be as long as 2 weeks before they restore power there. Schools are closed there and the National Guard has been called in. She said that 60% of the Louisville area is without power. My mom has been checking in daily but the connection is so bad can hardly understand what she's saying. They drove out of town a ways to get some gas to run a small generator they have so they can keep their refrigerater going. She's worried about losing their food. I might have house guest pretty soon. They are cooking on a bbr grill, but are running out of the bricks to light it. So I guess I need to get ready for house guest.

I just got my power back on today. It's been off since Sunday. I lost a lot of food items from the fridge/freezer.

I should sleep good tonight. I can't sleep in the total darkness, I have nightmares. I'm afraid of the dark.

It will be nice to wake up tomorrow and have coffee!

The things we take for granted.

I'm sorry that I've been so long in responding here.

Thank you ((((((((((((((( everyone ))))))))))))))))) and more hugs to anyone affected by Ike or any other event.

We got our electric on again after almost four day (weds I think?)

Since then, though, we've been doing massive clean up, getting things back in order, getting to store and replacing foods, etc. Moreso taking my time is my oldest is still without power and I need to help her at this point.

While all power was out the starter went out in my car and oldest's house backed up (clog in piping somewhere). It's been a MESS. To further complicate things, my daughter's hubby is leaving on a business trip for a week...tomorrow. I needed to do all their laundry and help her with the baby.

We had two small babies to keep safe, fed, dry and warm through this. It's been a trip.

The blessings? Wow...to see neighbors that rarely talk come over and offer you the shirt off their backs is so great...everyone helping each other (excepting at the gas pumps or stores where fights were erupting those first couple of days).

One of our neighbors brought us over an inverter for car so that we'd always have a phone because daughter is ill and we had babies. How special. The also brought us ice anytime they found it.

My son-in-law's mother drove us up ice and a generator from KY. There was no ice to be found anywhere. The generator helped a bit.

We were much more blessed than many...we always had water, hot water and a stove because they're gas. Some didn't even have water because of wells.

We made it and oldest daughter is still trying to!

Thank you all so much for your prayers and thoughts. I should be completely back by the end of the weekend.

Much love,

KD
