It has been confirmed that Austin, Texas does possess everything that you need to become serene, pretty, rich, funny and just doggoned all around great! A beautiful member of this forum lives there and is soon to be joined by yet one more mental member of psych central. Yes, I'm moving from Rotten, America to Austin...so, I'm inviting each and everyone of you to pack your stuff, leash your dogs and cats and meet me at the corner of 6th and Lamar for a BIG party! My old pdoc lives in Austin now so I guess it is a good place to live. But I'm having a brain fart as to his name though man I hate these cold pills they make me stupid.

I lived in Austin for a year in the late 1990's and I have to largely agree. Austin is really not a whole lot like the rest of Texas, it's a little oasis of coolness in a state not always known for being cool. Although home to the Texas legislature, they only meet once every 2 years (imagine a state like NY doing that!), and has a huge live music scene. Also home to a large university campus. I had a good time in Austin and the only thing I don't much miss is the extreme heat in the summertime!

Hey Fayerody-- when are you moving? I seriously want to visit Austin again. I agree with Doc John's assessment, except I was there in November and the heat was bad then too. But I think you're a Southwest heat-loving kinda gal, right?

man, i hate cold ..............i can do hot ......just take more off.......but i never can get enough on to stay warm.........and Doc John and you are right about it......the music, ah, the music.......one day we went down on Congress and there was a band made out of LITTLE KIDS that could play the blues almost as good as Stevie R.V.........it's like that all the time.....and the BARBECUE.....Ben's!!!! and if i move in with the friend, the top floor of his house, where i'll be, is like a little fairyland .......and Barton Creek.......and SHAR, OH SHAR!!!!!! and our clandestine meetups with Ethel at Central Market!!! Oh Joy, Oh Rapture!!!!!

oh, i digressed and completely didn't answer your question, PP....hopefully by March or April 1st........if i can survive in this house that i'm in......it was a one dog and three cat night last night!!!!

oh, yes, i forgot to mention "dumpster diving" when the UT kids go home after a semester. they throw away t.v.s, microwaves, beds, chairs, tables, phones....anything they don't want to haul. they have MAID SERVICE in the dorm now!!! think it's a rich school or what? and my friend has publishing contacts there......so it is looking good for the book!!!!!!!! wooooooooooooohoooooooooooooo

I saw the coolest band there called the Gourds. They're "alt-country". I didn't even know "alt-country" existed, but Austin seems to be the place for it. They rocked! I'm excited for you.

Austin is a cool place to be. I lived there for 5 years. Was accepted at UT too, but my parents dragged me along with them when they moved.

'Ya kinda gotta watch the weather, and carry an extra set of clothes because it can change drastically with no notice. There was one year we hat 90* on Christmas and then snow for New Years's. But I'll take that over cold any day.
