I've had my wonderful granddaughter, Bella Anne, since last Thursday......I've been taking care of my daughter's dogs every night. I'm broke. I've bought three gifts. You already know about the house sale stress......add all this to what I already had and I'm about ready to blow!!!!! The greyhound cut his foot and I had to take him to the vet yesterday......it's like loading a small horse into my cab in the pickup.......he is good, but it was just added stuff....my daughter is really mad at me because I didn't take off work last Friday and mail a pkg to London that she should have mailed herself earlier.......we're barely speaking. I've hung up on her three times. I feel like just having a good old fashioned hissy fit! Anyone out there want to join me??????????????????????????? GET IN LINE!!

I'm in line. My mother. She will be 85 next month and this could be her last Christmas. I'm not up to doing any holiday. You all know what I'm saying... you know the stress....

Hi folks,

Here is a good one. Two nights ago I performed at a poetry event and after my slot an acquaintance came in with a young woman that I didn't know. They sat down with us. She talked to me for a while, in a pretty forward, flirty, kind of way, and then leaned over to my wife and said "Tell your husband that he is a patronising git." I have to confess that I stood up for myself and gave back as good as I got.

Here's the rub. I find out later what her job is. She's a psychiatrist, a professionally qualified, working psychiatrist.

Now some people will know something of me from these boards. I'm going to put myself in your hands on this one - patronising git??

Yours humbly, and feeling a bit triggered.

Myzen, of all the Ts and pdocs I've known, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM had their own mental health issues to work through at some point before becoming licensed. In fact, over here, psychologists and psychiatrists are REQUIRED to go to therapy as part of their training.

Sounds like this chick hasn't worked out her own stuff yet.

Also, given the setting (I assume you were in a bar?), she could have been, as we say politely, schnockered. :-)

I'd write it off as petty and unprofessional, and move on. Did you at least get her name so that you know never to go to her for psychiatric help? :-)

Sky, Thanks for that. She could have been drinking, or had a really bad day, could be anything. She was very friendly at the start, embarrassingly so.

Of course, I always think that it's something I've done, that it's my responsibility, and we know that idea comes from the depressed thinking.

Also the gig was in a bar in the heaviest part of the city, and I had just been doing my set through some hecklers, which would make me touchy anyway. What has upset me is that I stood up to her. My wife says that was a good sign for me, but I did use a couple of choice words I'm afraid - cringe!

My acquaintance didn't say anything, but there will be gossip, it was a crackerjack exchange. Her last line was particularly humourless - she said, "Well, it's been very unpleasant meeting you." I mean, delivered deadpan, that's hurtful.

Cheers, Myzen.

Hi Candy,

Good point. Actually, you've gotta laugh about this. It's straight out of Seinfeld - me walking into her office, and then we both do the double take!

Cheers, Myzen What is your MAIN STRESSER RIGHT NOW??????

PS - I've got my cool smiley back. On a side issue, I might ask myself what I'm doing being a stand up performer when I suffer from panic disorder, my wife says that it's like going into the Lion's den. Maybe that's why I do it.

My husband is currently sitting in a bar blowing money like it's water on the gambling machines they have there. I am working on moving out and getting a divorce. My house is completely void of anything Christmassy - and I love Christmas. . .every part of Christmas. Sigh. . .one foot in front of the other.

Stressed. Yup. I am stressed.

That really does stink Beth, I am sorry also.
I guess my main stress is coming from my dad's death last month and now trying to deal with the estate stuff. There are a bunch of kids so crossing my fingers there are no blow-ups. Seems money is always a stress inducer. I was literally on my way home from paying $532 for a new water heater when the power steering went out on my car. Oh well, life will do that sometimes.
Take care everyone and Happy Holidays!
