Well, in one respect, it's good to remember lessons from these tragedies. Hurricanes Hugo and Andrew also.

Chalm, you and I know that the death toll they give is not correct.

Don't read if you aren't in a decent place:

How can it be with all that destruction and thousands staying? It's always the same, but once you know the truth, they can never lie to you again and have you believe them. (Like less than 100 died from Andrew, when the first morgue they opened had 1801 people. ) Then the constant stream of 18 wheelers, refrigerator trucks, carrying first only 100 at a time, and then, because of the overwhelming numbers, began carrying 300 at a time. No reason that any normal person can imagine for them to lie. Upwards of 5000 died in Andrew. I was there. I survived. They lied.
You survived too.

Yes, good article. I hate how the media stops talking about a hurricane just because it didn't hit some big city, or wasn't as bad as they thought it would be, or because some politician said something stupid, or whatever.

Ike was a bad one, but you wouldn't know it from the news. Thanks for the link and the reminder.

Your so right Sky.

This will most probably be a trigger for some.

I remember the first night, a week after the storm, when my brother finally joined back up with us. He and i sat out on the back porch talking. He wanted to talk about some things, some things not. But he did say that he and a neighbor were wading through waist high water going down Judge Perez. He said they looked over at the Winn Dixie grocery cause of the commotion going on there. It was on higher ground and the water had receded from the parking lot. Bj said they were piling bodies on top of each other. Said there must have been a good hundred there. He said it reminded him of the pictures he'd seen of those concentration camps that Hitler had. Bj told me there had to be hundreds that died just down where we live cause on there way up the road the bodies floating, him and his neighbor would grab and tie to a telephone pole. And of what they saw at the Winn Dixie.

It was documented that 127 died here. In the past few months the parish govt came out and said that 203 is the actual total. So who knows the truth. I just know there are people here still searching for family and those family members are not on the list that perished. Every few months there will be an article in the paper that a shrimper pulled up a body in their nets or a fisherman found a body in the marsh. We know the truth, like you said.

Its sad to say, but this trend will continue to happen. And those affected, whether they lost everything or suffered enough damage that they need help. Donations made to the victims never reach the victims. And 18 wheelers carrying ice, food, just your basic neccesities are denied entrance to help. So, like Sky says don't believe what the govt tells you. Cause most of what they say are lies.

Yes Sky, you survived and I'm so happy you did.

Your welcome digdug. And what you say is true. I can say from experience all the media was of New Orleans. But no one knows that the entire parish of St. Bernard was under 10-20 feet of water. It was never made known. The governor declared a no fly over zone of St Bernard after the storm. The only media we did get was by Anderson Cooper standing in front of a large shrimp boat that floated 7 miles, wiped out 5 houses then landed in the middle of a neighborhood street. Here is a video i edited of footage shot by friends who stayed. (Many of you 'old timers' here have seen this)

((((((((Bunnies and Muffy))))) Thank you, the both of you have been here to listen to me and support me. Even in the worst of times for me.
