Does anyone know if Google crawls this Forum. It does not look like it does. Only reason I'm concerned is because I just want to make sure peoples privacy is protected Tech Question

No, Google does not crawl this site. I think it does serve ads to PsychCentral though.

Since you are a new user, it would be helpful for you to read the FAQ, Community Guidelines, and Privacy Statement. I'll bet a lot of your questions would be answered there. And take a peek here....

http://psychcentral.com/about/awards.htm

PsychCentral has been around a LONG time, serving many thousands of happy users. In time you'll find that you can learn a lot about how to administer your nami forum site by seeing how DocJohn runs his.

Take care. emmy

jtarbox, DocJohn can answer this better than I can, but I know he does whatever he can to prevent posts here from showing up in search engines.

Yes, I have read your other posts, and you insinuated that one of our members will soon be charging us for his expertise, which he gives as pure support of this site and for us.

Ok. Let's try again. What brings you to psychcentral jt? I have PTSD, major depression, meniere's, tmd, chronic neuropathic myofascial pain ...

I did not!!! Dude stop right there. If you nothing nice say don't say it. All I said was is if he gets really could maybe her could start charging a small fee. I never said to whom, what time, and to what audience. Don't you like to get paid for your work! Do you work? I love volunteering as much as everyone else. However how does Dr. John keep this site
open?

I have no problems with you dude. I just wish you would drop your hidden agenda with me and let byegons be bye gones.

If you must know what I "suffer from" it is either GAD or ADHD it is still up for debate I suppose. Lastly, I'm sorry if every single post I make is not about my mental illness. I like to help other people and give them advice and that is why I am here. Not start arguments. Nto to have someone twist my words with there own hidden agendas. Just to be here like everyone else and support one another. I work on computers all day so I'm sorry if mix a little work in with my other posts. However, I'm not harming anybody and if I was I'm sure they could tell me for themselves. Right? I like to think that we are all capable adults. JMHO

No problem dude. You come on real strong though, and that's a real flag to most of the members here. I can understand being afraid enough to check it out first though... but try to chill some ok? It is a safe site.

Google and other search engines are prohibited from crawling/indexing this site. That's on purpose, since much of what people write here might be something they'd rather not have the whole world viewing so easily.

As our about section describes, Psych Central makes money through a variety of methods, including the advertising you see. We have no plans to ever charge for this community.

Best,
DocJohn

I'm sorry if I came on strong Tech Question Did not mean to offend anybody Tech Question Sorry to anyone who was and please accept my apologies.

Guess the best way to explain my feeling is simply this. Have you ever painted a kick @ss picture, poem, work of art etc. and just wanted to share your creation with the world. Not because I, you, anybody wanted to turn people away or distract them from what they already are doing but to open them up to something new and perhaps show off your talent a little bit.

I guess I just have a different opinion the Doc about what is advertising. I feel to be "" advertising your "" website or work of art you would have to be doing it for profit. Well, you can "" advertise even if your non-for-profit like NAMI-CV. But you get jist I think.

I would like to think that most people here a capable adults and would not mind someone "" advertising there website or whatever just as long as they put it in the right forum. Which I did not do and I'm sorry! Then the other condition being is that the website is to help people and not harm them. Really it all boils down to common sense.

I mean if you wanted be to be a real cynic like some people are Dr. John is advertsing for himself by having this website named after him, lol. I sure that helps his practice Tech Question

We do NOT give advice here we give support, to give advice is dangerous if it is wrong for someone and they take it and get hurt by it, some of us need support we get enough advice from our T's and professionals.
Some of us are DID and become easily confused, we need acceptence and support

Ok,....this is, um....interesting:

"I'm sorry if I came on strong Did not mean to offend anybody"

followed by

"I mean if you wanted be to be a real cynic like some people are Dr. John is advertsing for himself by having this website named after him, lol. I sure that helps his practice"

Saying something unkind, followed by a smiley face doesn't make it any less unkind. If you read DocJohn's biography on this site, you'll see why your conjecture is completely false.

Yup, this is DocJohn's website, so he gets to put his name and purty face all the heck over the place if he feels like it. He could put pictures of his wife, cats, and gradious holiday light display if he wants. And he gets to make the rules which we all follow, whether you or I approve of them or disapprove of them. I see absolutely nothing wrong with that. Feel free to do that same when you make your own personal site. In the mean time, keep reading the background material on this site, ok?

You've made quite an entrance, dude!

Sorrrry I meant advice, and support. I seen other people here give advice, lol. So don't jump down me please? O' and what is to say anyone here is not smart enough to take advice from someone who is not a "professional" just as long as it is good advice.

Please no offense but just because you are Dr. or Therapist does not make you anymore capable to give advice then anyone else. Can anyone else hear me out?

Yes and I see nothing wrong with that. Nothing at all. All I was trying to point out was that advertising as a term can be applied pretty losely. I was using the Dr. as an example to make a point not to uncover a graveyard. I used the smiley to show people what I was saying was in a friendly way and not attacking him.

As far as helping his practice. I'm sure it does and there is nothing wrong with that!!! Look at all the time he put into the BB. Did I ever say naming the BB after himself was a bad thing? No! In fact, I think it was not only a good marketing move but also a cool name as well.

Lastly, as for making an entance I just stated something simple with MOHO and everyone else jumped down my throat! Ex. got to phpbb and you will see how you can post anything. Some people might say it is not the right forum but they will not jump down your throat.

No offense to anyone at all but man some people here dig wayyyy to deeply into things and miss the whole point!!! Take Care

End of Thread because I don't care anymore!!!

I'm sure it might help my practice, if I had one! Funny how some people just come into a community all gung-ho, making assumptions, without taking 2 minutes to find out who their hosts are (before making those assumptions).

Seriously, you might want to take the 2 minutes to find out a little bit about the site you're posting to before posting to it (as the community guidelines suggest, you've read those, right?). It saves people a whole lot of heartache and misunderstanding.
