just got this in my e-mail:

This information arrived this morning, Direct from both Microsoft and
Norton.
Please send it to everybody you know who has access to the Internet.

You may receive an apparently harmless e-mail with a Power Point
presentation ' Life is Beautiful'
If you receive it DO NOT OPEN THE FILE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, and
delete it immediately.

If you open this file, a message will appear on your screen saying:
'It is too late now, your life is no longer beautiful.'

Subsequently you will LOSE EVERYTHING IN YOUR PC, And the person who
sent it to you will gain access to your name, e-mail and password.
Th is is a new virus which started to circulate on Saturday afternoon.
AOL has already confirmed the severity, and the anti virus software's
are not capable of destroying it.

The virus has been created by a hacker who calls himself 'life owner'.

PLEASE SEND A COPY OF THIS E-MAIL TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS, And ask them to
PASS IT ON IMMEDIATELY!

THIS HAS BEEN CONFIRMED BY SNOPES

Actually, if you click the link you'll find thats for another type of virus, a mail server report virus.

The correct link shows this Life Is Beautiful to actually be a hoax, and it explains that later on down the page in the mail server report as well.

Heres the correct link showing the LIB virus to be a hoax.

This is not a new virus....according to Snopes it's not very prevalent and it's a new warning about an old problem.

Here's more links to check it out as a hoax -

Thanks Brian for thinking of us here at PC!

Yes, there are many hoax emails circulating. When I receive such an email, I google it on the net to see if it's real. You can also go to your own virus program on your computer...that company's website to find out if it's real and if they cover it. Often it's not true or real.

It might be a good thing to create a new social forum for, you think? Hoaxes on the internet or something? Then you and everyone who finds something can post it there and everyone will know where to go to check if what they received is a fluke or not.

Thanks again for trying to help keep us all safe!

Yes, thanks for thinking of us, my fellow Hoosier. Anything with a bunch or even one misspelling I just delete & never open unless it is from a friend I know who is a bad speller. Also if it is from someone I don't recognize, sorry, delete. If it is that important, I figure they can figure out how to reach me some other way.

The trouble is, too, that these "warnings" can actually be traps themselves for you to open up something dangerous so if it is unexpected, looks a little fishy (misspellings or unusual address), or dire IMMEDIATE ATTENTION kinds of things--beware.

I figure I survived before email so if I delete something that is so-called "important" the world won't cave in. The person or company will just figure out some other way to reach me. Thanks again for taking the time to look out for us at PC.--Suzy
