...from looking at you like you're some kind of bomb, about to go off??
One little freak out at school, and now everyone watches me for signs of insanity. My friends incessantly ask me "how are you feeling today?" I wish I could erase their memories and start all over again. Clean slate, no freak out, no worrying. The LAST thing I want to do is make them worry about me. They all have tons of stress on them right now, but they worry about ME. That's wrong, and I want them to go live their own lives and not waste time on me. Is it possible to say "something" to get them to just stop worrying, stop caring so much? I hate the guilty feeling of knowing I've caused them to worry. sigh T

Angel.
Do not try to drive your friends caring away. I know how uncomfortable it can make you feel but share with them the type of support you need and then allow them to help. They obviously care about you as you do them. Help each other. As for the other open mouth morons who don't have a clue...why don't you get a shirt that says...KEEP STARING I MIGHT DO A TRICK! or how about SHAKE YOUR HEAD YOUR EYEBALLS ARE STUCK. I do not mean to make light of it but there is nothing you can really do about these people. Just be patient and soon something else will come along to occupy their little minds. In the mean time stick with your friends and keep yourself safe. It will blow over with time.

Try not to push them away because they care. If they're worrying it's only because they do care and that's not a bad thing. I bet if you asked them if you were causing them distress they'd say, "No way! You're our friend, we'll always care." I've felt guilty in the past about making people fret, but in the end it's just brought us closer. That's what friends are for! Try and embrace it as a good thing. It is a good thing.

((May trigger)))
Angel, It will go away. I remember when I had a suicide attempt in college. My entire dorm saw me get carried out on a stretcher. Once I got back everyone started at me with those big doe eyes that said "You poor thing." It drove me nuts. Eventually though it did stop and they found something else to focus on. Although it may feel really uncomfortable it will not last forever. Jessica

Maybe if you tell your friends that they would really help you out by NOT asking you if you're alright. Tell them it makes you uncomfortable and keeps reminding you of an embarrasing moment.

Talk to them about it, I'm sure they'd understand. It's rooted in their caring for you, no matter how much it makes you want to bite their arms off. ^_^;;;
