Smoking can be quite a good friend, even nurse, when you're really depressed, There were long periods when the next smoke was the only thing I was living for, ironically it may have saved my life (sorry to be depressing, a very long time ago).

It seems unlikely the authorities will see reason on this, a complete ban will probably go ahead SO in my experience nicotine replacement is useless, I found Nicobrevin, a treatment using quinine, virtually eliminates all the craving, I used that and herbal smokes (with no tobacco/nicotine)as substitutes to quit.

You may have to smuggle some into the psych unit next time as if they find out it makes quiting relatively painless they'll probably ban it too.

I'm not saying you should quit permanently, only for times away.
