Just had a recent change in medications (off 50 mg of seroquel for sleep). On 10 mg of ambvian for sleep.

I've become really paranoid about new people in my life, the health of my parents (they are getting old). I check my doors several times a day. I've never been through this before.

I use to kid around that my mom and dad treat me like a three year-old since they I told them I am bipolar. Now I get upset that they treat me this way.

I am not thinking rationally and is scaring me. I swear, that klonopin could not kick in last night fast enough when I realized how paranoid I was being.

Could it be the med changes? This is something new for me?

I really need feedback on this. If anyone could offer any kind of possible insite to consider, maybe I could discuss it with my pdoc?

Thanks in advance!

I would definitely talk to your doc about it. Since it is increasing & came on w/the change in the meds your doc needs to know that. I had a lot of paranoia, but it was mostly just centered around my husband. I thought he was spying on me & wanted me to kill myself (I had had some suicide attempts) & that he was planning on poisoning me if I didn't kill myself.

Also, you sound like you could have a little OCD going on. Maybe because of all the anxiety.

When I got on Abilify the paranoia decreased amazingly. I was on Abilify for 12 yrs. (20-25 mg, depending on if I was starting to have symptoms of mania). Sometimes I would start to get a little manic so I would have to bump it up to 25 mg for a week & then it would knock it out & then I would go back down to the 20 mg.

Unfortunately, I gained a lot of weight on Abilify & now have health problems from that so I have had to get off it (have been off it 2 mos.) & a bit off the paranoia has returned, but only slight thoughts like my husband is thinking bad thoughts about me (like about my weight as I am really upset about my weight gain & I know he's none too happy either).

But through my Dialectical Behavioral Therapy I am learning how to control my thoughts & emotions much better so I am handling being off anti-psychotics altogether. Am on a mood stabilizer & other meds...

Yes Doctor right away I'd agree. The new meds may not be right for you or may take time to become effective.

When I get paranoid it means I'm going manic or getting depressed, although a pinch seems to be part of how I normally think (always taking into account the worst possiblities). At least you have good awareness of it.

I've thought the CIA and organised crime were teaming up to kill me (I'm an ordinary law-abiding citizen, it would be most unlikely) not a good feeling. I can laugh about it now.

What exactly is your diagnose -if any-?. You said "they say I'm Bipolar" who are they? Your parents, a Doctor?. Who gave you the medications? and for how long have you been taken them?

my pdoc gave me the dx several years ago of bipolar...on 900mg lith, 275 effexor, 2mg klonopin prn, and 5mg ambian prn. These work great for me. I live on my own. Parents fear stuff they are unsure about, so they walk on eggshells around me.
