I have used a small light box for several years, and i have found it pretty helpful. I got one off of amazon and it has small blue lights in it, and folds up.
Thanks for this!

Thanks for the reply. I've seen those...exactly what I was thinking about getting. My wife swears my symptoms get worse in the winter...I don't always notice, but she does. I'm gonna give it a try. Surely can't hurt

What kind of light therapy are you using?

My husband just bought me a Verilux Happy Light. I used it for the first time today, so I can't really comment yet. I'd like to hear others' experiences and I'll keep you posted on mine.

I have a Verilux Happy light, but didn't find it that helpful, so now I use a Sun Ray light box 30 min daily, and find it's a great treatment for SAD. (To be effective for SAD the box needs to provide 10,000 LUX of illumination). Btw, if I use it for more than 30 minutes, I can get agitated depression. Best of luck!

I just ordered one too due to SAD. So I'm interested in this topic. The one I ordered wasn't as pricey as the others and has a negative ionizer as well. I've read that has some evidence backing it up.

I really hope that this helps because so far nothing is working.

I just got my light box. It's large and bright. I used it for 15 minutes to start. I guess I'll try 30 in the morning and see how it works. It says that it takes a few days. At least that is relatively fast compared to the meds, which really are helping all that much.

Thanks, vans I feel so supported by you during this battle with SAD. I just texted my shrink about Latuda and he will probably do it. I trust you and your knowledge and appreciate all your responses. Hugs

Light boxes work well for me. Do remember to change the bulbs. The bulbs in mine still work, but I'm not getting any benefit from them. Perhaps they're no longer emitting the proper wavelength of light. I can't remember the research I did on light boxes years ago... Anyway, I ordered new bulbs and look forward to sitting with my Happy Light (Verilux) in the mornings again.

I am not certain as to their effectiveness. But, I have recently seen full spectrum desktop lights for mood enhancement bring marketed at a local department store. (Meijer) They were with the other lamps and such and I think they were around thirty dollars or so. You may be able to find a light therapy tool pretty cheap and it would be nice to hear from anyone who has tried one.
