I've had several rounds of CBT, it can sometimes be interesting, and useful.

Current therapist is trying to treat me. I had a bunch of money stolen from my bank account by my utility company.

I'm broke. My current issue is financial.

I'm upset because I cannot pay my rent and I'm about to be evicted.

T decided that I need to dispute my disturbing thought that I cannot pay my rent and I'm about to be evicted

Question - how would I dispute that thought! It isn't a belief - it's true.

Help - any suggestions?

Let me see if I remember how ridiculous CBT goes.........what evidence do you have for this thought of you can not pay your rent and will get evicted. What evidence do you have against it?

This can be where survivors search for mother and father figures. Transference issues in counseling can occur and this is normal for childhood abuse survivors.
Thanks for this!

Yeah I don't quite see how CBT would work on that one.

Did the utility company have a court order to seize you money? I don't see how they could have done that without one.

This is my true experience with CBT. In my first session:

Counselor - "Why are you here"
Me - "I have issues with rejection"
Counsellor - "I'm sorry, you're not suitable for CBT"

There wasn't a second session, obviously.
