I have tried it all almost and for one reason or another I can't take it! I finally decided to try tryptophan and on day two seems like it helps my depression YEY! But it also seems to trigger my anxiety. Has this happened to anyone and if so does it go away or is there anything I can use for the anxiety?

That seems odd for tryptophan.

I know Chamomile tea works for me.

I have heard Kava Kava
Velarian Root

Alcohol, benzos. Lol. Very effective but maybe not a good idea.

Magnesium I have heard. I may try that one. I think there is good research on it.

Both Tryptophan and Magnesium are interesting. I think I noticed a definite calming effect from a Calcium/Magnesium drink I tried a while back. I think I'm going to try that some more.

There was a very serious EMS poisoning event from Tryptophan supplements in ~1989 causing many deaths and disabilities. This was eventually traced to contamination from one Japanese company. Wikipedia says that this was long since corrected, but it may be why MDs are still shy to suggest it (Tryptophan is a serotonin precursor). - v

My anxiety is calming down now after three days on it.

I'm aware of the issues in 1989. I'm not to worried about that now. It seems to be isolated to that one batch. Plus it's the only thing that has helped me so far so I'm inclined to take a bit of a risk.

Of course I have nearly all side effects but hey its better than antidepressant side effects.

Now I'm noticing that I'm clearing my throat nearly all day and coughing a lot. I haven't seen this listed as a side effect. Anybody had this before?

When I was on Celexa I had a similar problem but I didn't clear my throat or cough nearly as much.

Now this stuff is making me moody. I get very angry for no reason. I also find it nearly impossible to wake up in the morning.

Other strange side effects... Dizzy but almost to the point of fainting.

I thought this was something we have in our bodies naturally...why would I feel so horrible? Does it take time to adjust like antidepressants do?

Wow, I'm done with this stuff. It's making me more depressed and full of anxiety.
