Has anyone had a peyote ceremony? I have a friend who kinda like a mom offer to do a peyote ceremony for me since I've been having a lot of emotional problems. I've had positive affects from mushrooms when I was a teenager(it was also just experimentation) but would like something a little more "cognitive" I guess. I don't believe in pharmaceuticals, just what nature gives us.

Smoothie, a peyote ceremony is ingesting hallucinogenic substances that are not measured and affect people differently.

Any self medication like this could make you situation worse. It is a crap shoot. I wouldn't gamble on my mental health. Self medication can open you up but does nothing to integrate the new sensations or awareness. Some people have complete breakdowns - I highly recommend not to do self medication.

What about therapy. People talking in a room completely natural.

Yoga, mindfulness, breathing, these are all natural, low risk ways to open and integrate.

Thanks for your input CANDC
Even going to my therapist once a month is pushing it for me money wise. I am trying to save up for a new(used) car and still have money for food and gas. My therapist told me if I'm only going to see her once a month then I need to get some work books and stuff to work through my problems. I realized that if I only see her once a month, it'll probably be that I'm paying her just to listen to my rant of the same problems every time with no real break-throughs. It's just really hard for me to motivate myself. I've always been the type of person who needed to go to a workout class or yoga class because I couldn't do it on my own.
I also want to let you know I've done acid a few times and mushrooms many times without a breakdown. The mushrooms were definitely more healing than acid. I've actually done a lot of drugs, but those were to escape reality whereas this would be to search in myself to find the little girl inside who didn't get what she needed and to give that little girl the love and appreciation she deserves. I just can't do that kind of stuff on my own.
I guess this is kind of a taboo subject here. ;P I just feel like nature can heal the body, spirit and mind so much better than man-made substances. Call me a hippie if you want.

I've done Peyote (many times) as well as all the other hallucination creating drugs you mention. Personally, I attribute my previous drug use to the brain damage I have suffered through the past 25-years. The brain is a delicate organ and it should be treated with great care. I have used the drug ceremonially with Native American Elders but the physical/mental effects are the same. Believe me... If I could get some relief from my depression by using ANY type of drug I would do so! A good therapist and Pdoc should be able to help, look for a sliding fee mental health facility- I hope you find a solution that works for you.
