I have heard that some oils can aid in soothing anxiety or aiding depression. Just wondering if anyone has used aromatherapy for their health routine and what their experiences of doing so may be.
Thanks for this!

I have used them and them very helpful with calming me before sleep and I have one that is supposed to help with alertness. I use it every morning.

I use Dottera Serenity for sleep and citrus bliss for alertness. I have one called Balance to use when I'm anxious.

Well, I took the plunge and got myself a small collection - including that Lavender recommended above (what a game changer). Frankincense and Thieves have been soothing and uplifting too. It's a been a month and I am sold. I have my preferred source but you could visit most natural foods stores too.

I love lavender myself, I want to get more essential oils but I have to wait and buy one thing at a time

My curiousity was piqued when my therapist mentioned them as a form of distraction and achieving mindfulness. There really seems to be something to them. Perhaps that is all in my head, but regardless it still works for me and I have achieved some measure of balance.

This week has been a real test for me. Granted it's not entirely the oils that have helped; my CBT has been a big source of maintaining my cool too. But the Aromatherapy has been pleasant.

There are a lot of sources. Obviously I have my favourite, but I have discovered others too. My healthfood store carries some. There is a retail chain in Canada that carries (an albeit limited) selection, and of course there is online. Again, make sure though that it is and Essential Oil and not a scented oil.
Thanks for this!

I like to mix a few drops with vodka for a pure odor (or rubbing alcohol slight icky odor)
and have homemade "sprays". I used the smells for grounding and staying in present (mindfulness). I like food smells (peppermint, cinnamon, vanilla...) to give me some control over what my brain is doing.

This is good for deordorizing the inside of sneakers/boots (alcohol removes moisture)also.

I love eucalyptus oil. I buy it by the gallon. Mix it in the laundry to kill "no see ums".
I regularly fill a small dish and soak my fingertips too. I have 3 on left side that are always numb.
I mix some with water for keeping bathroom fresh. It's expensive, but worth it to me.

Using LUSH vanilla solid scent. LUSH products are all organic. Have tried other scents over the years but have settled on vanilla. Extremely calming.
