The Great State of Florida has approved medical marijuana.
Now, certain cities and municipalities are applying moratoriums.
I'm not fond of it personally. It's kid's stuff.
But I have a truly certified Schizo friend how smokes every day and spends his days laughing and having a ball.
When I visit, I smoke with them, but it doesn't bode well with me. They laugh and say I'm out of training.
I never smoked marijuana. Downers are not my thing, however,
I've been reading about THC amounts etc, maybe I can find a product that suits me well.
If I get the same result as my friend, I wanna smoke forever. Input?.

Ah, BIF, Bipolar qualifies medically for marijuana?.
Thank you for reading.

When I was younger I used Marijuana as a coping mechanism quite often. At the time I didn't know I was Bipolar but it helped quiet my mind and calm my anxiety. It actually worked in a couple different ways depending on whether I was up or down. If I was depressed it made me feel better and I was more social and enjoyed more things but if I was manic...especially at the apex of my mania when I enter extreme anxiety and paranoia it helped calm me down some.

I think if you qualify there's no reason not to give it a go. If it was legal here in Sweden I would definitely ask for it.

Hi Valkyrie,
Thank you for your input. I'm trying to get info if Bipolar qualifies. My previous experience hasn't been too good. It's very hard to adjust how long and what effect is gonna have.
If I get the monchies, can't stop eating. Once ate 16 cups of a very sweet dessert.
If I get the laughs, I fall to the floor and start turning. If either one starts, I have no control over it.
Never have had both at same time TG. Also I wanted to faith more than once. Almost happened.
Let's see if one of the family chimes in with the info for bipolar.
Nice to chat with you again. Hope you're not too cold. Thanks again. Luv.

Medical marijuana is so powerful, not at all like back in the day when it took a whole joint to even catch a buzz.

It's best to start with a low amount and work your way up.

It's honestly a miracle drug for me. Only time I don't smoke it is when I'm really "up" because it doesn't calm me down, it just makes it all more euphoric (especially if I take my Adderall that day). When I'm "up" and irritable, then I'll smoke it so I'm not such a ****. Helps with the depression quite a bit, though. When I'm stable, it's just nice.

Michigan has very liberal medical marijuana laws, but being bipolar doesn't qualify as a condition meriting a MM Card. Just me, but smoking probably wouldn't be a good idea for me, anyways.

Marijuana has been known to increase paranoia and anxiety when using it. Just FYI.

I agree...I got sick of the paranoia, and rebound anxiety from it, so i gave it up after 25 years of use.

I can't imagine anybody with any mental illness benefiting from it. I am so much more stable since giving it up.

There are so many different reactions you can have to marijuana. I smoke it personally without any problems. It helps my anxiety and actually helps my mood. But my ex, for example, would get paranoid when he smoked. My brother often gets anxious and can't sit still when he gets high. Know yourself, and how your brain reacts to it. Definitely weigh the pros and cons of smoking. It may be great for your friend, but perhaps not for yourself, and that's OK. Not everyone is the same. Good luck!

It gives you a dopamine rush, thats why it helps with mood. How is your mood after coming down though? Not good i bet, because of the crash.

Depending on the amount of cbd in it, for it can help with anxiety, but the thc counters that by giving you the rebound anxiety when coming down. Your anxiety probably isn't that bad if you stepped away from it for a while once the thc is out of your body. Your only making any level of anxiety you have worse by smoking it.

I prefer Mary Jane to alcohol any day of the week. Me id legalize marijuana and outlaw alcohol. Alcohol has much worse side effects.

I don't have a problem with the legalization of marajuana, for I enjoy the cbd part of it. I vape it a few times a week for extra relaxation. Thc however is the part that's bad for you giving you anxiety, paranoia, memory impairment, depression and can lead to psychosis.

Cbd is the only substance in marijuana that has positive effects, for its good for your digestive system, it's an anti inflamatory. It also has anti tumor effects, also good for anxiety, and pain relief along with many others.

I have heard so many different opinions on this subject that I can't keep track
of it all. I smoked pot way back in the high school days and found it very calming.
I have not tried it since but I see no big problem with it.
I have heard so many people rave about how it helps them with their MI.
Scaredandconfused said best, its different for everyone and you just have to
give it a try to ever know for sure.

I'm for legalization, though I no longer smoke. It causes psychosis in me.

A couple of years ago, I smoked some weed during a severe depressive episode. Two days later I was in the hospital watching black and grey cats running underneath the linen cart; all my previous occurrences had happened during mania. Did the MJ cause the psychosis? Who knows? But I've been very careful ever since...I will only smoke when I'm not in any kind of episode, and even then I smoke only when my oldest daughter and son-in-law come for a visit. I've never bought any for my own use, I just bought it for my husband when he was still here and needed help with his cancer pain and nausea. Who knows, maybe I'll buy an eighth one of these days.

If you're bipolar the thing in dope that you probably want is a higher CBD content, like an Indica strain. its actually an anticonvulsant, and CBD alone is not psychoactive (it doesn't get you high), and what do they prescribe bipolar patients as mood stabilizers..? ANTICONVULSANTS... go figure why I like it and I like Indicas more that Sativas. (Indicas still have THC but tend to have higher CBD contents, while Sativas are well known for higher THC contents).

Also if you're looking to use it medicinally, in my opinion it should be used daily. because if you're only a sometimes, or every now and then smoker, you get pretty messed up (these newer strains are pretty potent), but if you use daily (like the rest of your medications) the high become more dull, and you don't notice it as much, but it really does do wonders for mood. try to piss me off when I'm high... you cant. its impossible.

Take it from a pot head of over 10 years, whos a chem major and knows how to, and has done his research (and experimentation) well. I know what I'm talking about with dope. its kinda my thing.

That's my logic when it comes to legalization of cannabis. If alcohol is legal (and has much worse side effects), then why the hell isn't cannabis legal? Plus, you can tax cannabis if it's legal. It's a win-win situation.

Good thing is that pot was just legalized here in MA. (Smart move IMO.) Recreational use, not just medicinal use. However, technically the legalization doesn't take effect until Dec 15, 2017, but dispensaries will surely pop up everywhere in MA by 2018.

Never done pot before, but might give it a go. Why not? I might have a bad reaction, but I'll never know until I try.

I don't smoke tho, but that doesn't mean I can't have cannabis edibles... or get some cannabis oil. Might buy me some pot cookies.

Eating is easy to overdose yourself and get WAY more in you than you intended. Smoking herb or vaping wax or oil you can titrate your doses more easily (ie take A hit, see how you feel, take another, see how you feel, continue until you're satisfied). No one has EVER gotten lung cancer from cannabis. And the smoke tastes gooooood!

Chronic use of cannabis has been known to alter lung tissue similar to how the way tissue that precedes cancer in tobacco smokers is altered. Though there are no studies that definitively state that chronically smoking cannabis will cause cancer. Repeated smoking of cannabis has, however, been linked heavily to chronic coughing, increased sputum production in the lungs and chronic bronchitis. It has also been suggested that repeatedly deeply inhaling and holding of the smoke also causes pneumothorax, more commonly referred to as a collapsed lung. Also, the risk among cannabis smokers for getting Tuberculosis is greatly increased due to inhalation practices and sharing water pipes or hotboxing.

Basically, just because cannabis isn't necessarily linked to cancer, per se, doesn't mean it isn't completely harmless. There are diseases and increased likelihood of disease when chronically using it.

Another more apt side effect of Cannabis usage is the increased likelihood of developing an addiction to it and spending increasing amounts of ones time spacing out or high rather than doing more productive things or tending to one's responsibilities like one's job, or parental duties.

I over embellished the intro, and is working against me.

I need to know if I can get a medical marijuana card due to my bipolar.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed each and every one of your replies. Very informative. But what I need to know is if bipolar qualifies for an Rx for marijuana in any State. Please, keep 'em coming. thank you all!.
