My parents have a cat Chessie, she is a torby. Anyway she is very sick and they have made the decision to put her down. I am not sure why I am so sad about this because she doesn't really like me all that much and hisses at me all the time but I am still really sad. She has an ulcer on her tongue and the glands in her butt have quit working so she stinks all the time. I know it is the best for her because she is in a lot of pain and isn't really eating a whole lot and when she does eat she kind of cries because it hurts. They give her canned food which helps some but in the last few days she really hasn't even wanted that. So I know it is time.

So please pray if you do that for our family as we grieve for the loss of Chessie.

Jan

Well yesterday was the day. Mom stayed with her til the end and she and the vet talked while Chessie was taking her last breaths. Mom brought her home and Dad buried her in the forest outside the kitchen window so Mom can see her if she wants to.

Not sure if Mollye (their other cat) has realized Chessie isn't here yet as Tyger is here.

Chessie got one more scratch in one Mom. My sister said it was just her way of saying see I'm still Alpha cat. When they gave her the first shot she peed all over the place and even got some on the vet. Mom thinks Chessie hadn't used her litter box all day and that is why so much came out.

It is sad but at least she is in a better place.

((jbug)) - I'm sorry you and your family are mourning the loss of Chessie. Sounds like she was suffering and this was the right but painful thing to do. It's nice you buried her at home. We did the same for our Persian cat several years ago. He had Cardio Myopathy and was struggling to breath so we had to euthanize him. It's hard to lose a pet -sorry.

Huggs, dear. I am so sorry about the cat. It takes courage to do the right thing, sometimes. I am glad she is at peace now.
