I was wondering if anyone had ever kept finches before as pets? I read an article on it a few days ago and was highly intrigued by it, and have been doing some researching on the subject. Just curious if anyone has had any experince with the little darlings before?

I had them many, many years ago.
They are a wonderful bird to keep. I started out with just two of them, but because I was working out of town, I gave them to my brother, who went absolutely nuts over them.

He loved them so much that he went out and bought another 2 pair. He had them all trained so that they could fly freely about inside the house, and to retreat into their cage at night time..lol.
They're so dinky...and very beautiful to listen to, (not like the irritating repetitive squawk of the parakeets..(had those, too, but too messy and noisy).

I've forgotten their names of the breed of Finch now, but my brother got both the orange beak and the browns. Both a wonderful bird.

Hope this helps ....

I had a pair of Zebra Finches about 5 months ago and gave them away. The ones I had never stopped chirping . lol. Other than that they were very interesting and danced and chirped to the Bee Gees song Stayin' Alive. They are a bit messy as in you have to clean up seeds and some feathers off the floor but no big deal. I stuck with my hermit crabs which are much easier to maintain. Good luck Typo. I love birds also , the ones outside.
