My puppy is about 3 months old now and I gave him his first worming medication yesterday after taking him to the vet. Everything was fine until today. He stopped playing and just wants to sleep now and I can't get to eat or drink and he's throwing up. Could it be side effects from the medication or something else causing him to be ill?

Did the vet give you the wormer or did you buy it from the store? There should be side effects listed on the wormer if you bought it from the store. One of the side effects could be drowsiness. Some wormers, also, ask that you don't feed them for a certain before and after worming. Call the vet to be on the safe side.

I got it from the vet and I called him earlier to ask about it and he said that he should be ok by tonight....but he's not. He's just gotten a lot worse and it's scaring me. He' seems really sick and none of the vet's are open here. I don't wanna lose him but it looks like he might not make it through tonight and i dont know what to do. I just want him to be ok but he's not and I can't do anything it's killing me..He's drooling on himself and he won't drink and he keeps throwing up, Damn it... I should've known better than to get a dog things like this always happen

ok...deep breath.

did he get any shots today? sometimes the shots make them feel sick too.

if you have a 24 hr vet near you run him over...if not there are 24 hr poison control lines for animals you can call..how ever it will cost you $$

you need to keep calm.

if it was given to you by the vet & you gave him the correct dosage then he is having a reaction to the meds....

look on the package see if there is any info on caring for an adverse reaction procedures.

call your vet..sometimes they leave a number to call in case of an after hours emergency

keep him warm, offer him some water..maybe ice chips, sit next to him...& just be ready for a long nite. you will probably get some diarrhea too. poor guy is reacting to it.

make sure you notify the vet first thing in the morning.

THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU BEING A SCREW UP FOR GETTING A DOG...DON'T EVEN GO THERE. THIS HAS TO DO WITH A REACTION FROM AN ANIMAL TO A MED. , PERIOD. NOTHING THAT IS YOUR FAULT. IT HAPPENS.

use your computer & locate a 24 hr vet near your or the 24 hr poison line
800 213 6680 & see if they can offer advice.

but be calm. if you are upset you will not be able to offer anything to your puppy.
