you know how much I love my crazy cat (he literally saved my life. and vice-versa). but he is a very BAD kitty today!

I love him but he makes me sooo mad sometimes

He is very active and insists that I get up with him. And he is relent-less about it. He wakes me up every morning a little before or around 4:45AM and I HAVE TO play with him or he gets really destructive.

I just put up with it because there is no getting around it. I've tried EVERYTHING...

(in all relationships there is give and take & compromise

This morning, I was exhausted after an emotionally and physically draining week, and I so wanted to sleep in. Just a teeny bit (5:15 - 5:30 would have been heaven!)

But he didn't like it, so after nagging me and doing everything he could to get me out of bed, he finally resorted to the final weapon in the kitty arsenal! he pee'd on my bed

he KNEW he was a bad kitty. It was written all over him.

Here is a pic of the little eff'ing effer

A permanent 3 year old (for 15+ more years!)
bad kitty! (sigh)

He looks so sweet when he is asleep
bad kitty! (sigh)

Your little effing effer is adorable ... !!! ... That made me smile when you called him that, hope it's okay I repeated it ...

He looks too intelligent to close the door on so he can't disrupt your rest ... Wish I knew a solution ... Sorry he pee'd your bed ...

Would it be too much to ask for you to give him a hug for me? ... I'm not permitted pets where I live and miss their company something awful ...

And, while you're at it, give yourself a hug too ...

Sincerely,
BrokenCloud

Yeah, he was a bad kitty. I was wondering what would happen if you locked him out of the bedroom when you know you want to sleep in the next morning. He sure will be mad but for one day at least you'll get that needed sleep. You may need that extra sleep to clean, fix, straighten and adjust everything that Kitty vented his rage at.

Hi there thank you for your nice supportive replies. Unfortunately he doen not get along with other kittehs. He is extremely territorial and goes balistic. I wanted to adopt rescue another one for him but it would be a disaster he LOVES dogs but my place isn't big enough and I am not home enough to properly care for a pupster

I tried the closed door thing but he hates it and puts his mouth at the door crack and screams. He has a set of lungs on him that you wouldn't believe! I tried white noise and ear plugs but I can still hear him.

He is beautiful and amazingly smart. The asian leopard in him is dominant and alive and well. Lol. Hugs

Some cats do have a set of lungs. Louder that dogs barking at times. I had 2 Siamese cats. They said when they were mixed & looked Siameseish, they had the howl.....otherwise they they lost the howl....that was definitely true with my babies.

I have a friend who has a house full of cats on her farm. One little female yowls & yowls like in pain or something.....but nothing is wrong.....think she just likes to hear her own voice. If only we could read their minds.

Sometimes I do ask him what he wants while he is looking at me and yelling. Lol. He also gets certain looks on his face that are a crack up.

Awww ba kittehs! I know exactly what you mean. I don't let him out though. I am afraid he will really hurt the rogue kittehs outside or the critters that run around.

I would love to see pix of everyones furry family members!

Kitteh, was BADDDDD kitteh last night. I think I was having a nightmare, thrashing about and/or talking in my sleep, because I woke up at 12:30A, and the sucker! was pouncing on me like I was his food under the duvet!

He bites like he is ripping meat off a bone while he holds on to my arm or hand with his front paws and bunny kicks me all at the same time. If I tell him "no", he comes after me even more. And if I raise my arm to protect myself, he takes it as a challenge. He is a fearless little dude.

The good news is that I ran into a neighbor this morning that was just coming back from walking Wally (he 90 lb Staff). He is sooo sweet.

I asked her if she wouldn't mind popping by one evening when I got home from work and introducing her buddy to my buddy (he HATES other cats but LOVES dogs)...She said hers LOVES kittehs.

Awww, my boy will be sooo happy! I wish I could put him into Doggie Daycare. He would be the happiest kitteh - ev-er.

lol! I swear this cat is freekin crazee.

All of this sounds too familiar. I have 2 cats. lol.

Yesterday, the neighbors upstairs were having a party or something. There was a lot of noise and loud music. The cat freaked out and scratched my mom. I was a little angry at him, but I was hugging him and telling him I know it's not his fault. He was shaking. Poor little thing.

He usually steps on the keyboard and he ruins the furniture. Whenever we buy toilet paper he tries to bite and scratch every roll. We also have a female cat. She bites the leaves of our indoor plants and she chews on the covers of my books. Both of them step on me when I'm reading in bed.

((((Pepsi)))) thank you! We get up every morning at 5AM, I check his food and water and then we play for about an hour. Then I go to work (he sleeps, looks out the window - we have two big trees outside my window full of birds - plays with his million and one toys of which I keep fresh and am constantly changing out so he doesn't get bored. Basically does whatever he does during the day - hah!).

*When I was out of work, I discovered he really doesn't do anything during the day but sleep and eat a teeny bit and drink some water, so I don't feel too bad that he's being neglected

When I get home, I give him fresh water, more food, and 2 "cookies" (l-lysine treats), and then play with him for another 1/2 hour to 45 minutes (I actually multi-task and eat my dinner while wearing him out). He actually talks to me like crazy when I get home. He starts yelling as soon as he hears me coming up and doesn't stop until I change his potty (he waits all day for me to get home, then he goes, because he insists on having his box changed immediately).

I play with him some more if he's still active, and then I fall into bed. He usually follows me in and jumps into bed with me and then leaves at some point during the night.

I think it pretty impossible to wear him out. He is very active, demanding, particular and only does what he wants to do when he wants to do it. He is also extremely territorial so when any outdoor critters or especially when the rogue kittehs come around, he gets very upset and comes to wake me up to show me " that thar's trouble out thar, ma"

And then when he does want something, he is relentless about it.

I have a Maine Coon kitty who is sweet, and is "inside/outside." I know the dangers of letting the cat outside, but he is frantic and wild if he doesn't get out daily. I keep him inside with me at night, and he sleeps on my bed (along with the two dogs). He wakes me around 5 a.m. also, leaping, turning over lamps, hollering, till I get up. At that time, instead of letting him outside, I pick him up and put him in the garage with his litter and food. It sounds like you may not have that option, but it helps me. He still gets out when I leave for work, raising the garage door a few inches. Thankfully, I have lovely kind neighbors who love him also, and he goes over to their house for most of the day.

((((seeker)))) oooo, MC's are big beautiful kitties! That is a great option that I wish I had I adopted/rescued him when he was 3 and his previous O's had him declawed so he cannot go outside. He wouldn't be able to protect himself. And also, he is vicious, and his bite is deadly. I just cannot risk it

Sadly, I do not have a garage (it's on my wish list).

I have a feeling, though, even if I did I would still be able to hear him yelling (my friend came by yesterday night and left a hilarious vm message, "Hi. just stopped by to see you. I totally heard, ***** but I dont think you are home...hope to catch up soon" (lol!) Also, the neighbors across the street came over one day because they heard him and thought he was being mistreated he was yelling so loud - hah!

Rose...yes, declawed means he can't protect himself, for sure. So...is your kitty some kind of exotic mix? Sounds like part or all exotic. Describe him!

I was thinking Rose that there may be two reasons he complains. Cats actually use their claws to knead blankets and soft things in rituals to help them relax. Your cat is declawed and can't do that and it probably makes it hard for him to relax. And many cats are actually night time preditors, they have relective eyes and can see quite well in the dark. So he is probably more restless at night. And the other thing is that animals KNOW when we are upset, their senses are much keener than ours are. Your cat may sense you are having bad dreams and may know that if he wakes you up that your bad dreams and stress will end somehow. It sounds to me like he uses his teeth to make up for the loss of his claws. He probably doesn't like other cats because they have claws and he doesn't and cats use their claws in interacting with other cats. Animals know when they are missing something. Your cat probably prefers dogs because dogs do NOT use their claws like cats do, they use their teeth.

Just a thought,

Thanks OE! Sadly, he was highly neglected the first 3.5 years of his life in terms of socialization, interaction and activity (so he did not learn to play well with others) -and for his breed, it's really bad. So I can understand how he would be a little bummed out Poor guy.

They become destructive if they aren't given the proper amount of attention/activity which is why he was given away to begin with (the previous O didn't pay attention or learn anything about his breed).

They are also natural "talkers" so he talks up a storm. so if I am talking in my sleep, maybe he is talking back to me - lol!

His nature is hunter / predator, so I am sure not having front claws is a drag for him ( i am NOT for declawing but it was done prior to adopting him). But for what he is missing in the front, he makes up with his barbed wire, razor sharp teeth

Also, I feel bad that he picks up on my stress levels, and I know he does. Meh. We aren't the best match in those terms; however, we saved each other's lives.

I've tried really really hard to make up for what he missed those first 3.5 years, but some of the behavior, there is nothing I can do. I've spoken with his breeder, numerous owners of the breed, many feed and supply workers, his vet ... It's part of his DNA.
