I was upstairs watching a movie and all of the sudden I heard sounds like someone was trying to break into the decorative iron screen at my front door. I went running down there, and Krazee was fighting wildly through and under the screen with black intruder kitty from the neighborhood. The sound was so loud my neighbor came out to see what was going on...the crazy part was that the two cats were fighting but they werent making a sound.
I managed to lure Krazee away with a piece of paper while I closed and locked the inner door. Unfortunately, he was all wound up and decided to take it out on my leg ![]() I got the squirt gun and chased black kitty away (why do people let their freekin cats out anyway!?). By the time I got back, Krazee had calmed down. Thankfully. I checked him over to make sure he didnt have any wounds, and then went on and dressed my own. I am so upset right now. It wasnt his fault...he was just protecting his home and going on instinct. Of course, he is keeping a watchful eye on the front patio. If he had gotten out and gotten ahold of that other kitty, that kitty would be toast ![]() He has attacked me (on accident) once before...he bit me on the wrist down to the bone and wouldn't let go ![]() same situation with orange intruder kitty. I had to take antibiotics. I know what to look for. This whole thing just makes me so mad ... it just isn't normal. I refuse to get rid of him or put him down. I am his fourth home before my family dumped him on me. I am more angry with them for tricking me into taking him than anything. They KNEW. Poor guy. We have come such a long way together in the last 2 years. Believe it or not, he was a hundred times worse before ![]() |

Hi Setso, thank you. His nickname here is Krazee
![]() I will have to keep an eye on it tonight and tomorrow. If it starts showing sign of infection, I will have to get an Rx. He scares me when he gets like that and there is nothing I can do. ![]() |

Please get it looked at. Cat bites are so dangerous. I'm a retired Vet Tech, and that's one thing I learned at work, cat bites require an immediate trip to the ER and antibiotics. I remember once my boss got bitten in the hand. He did not go to the ER right away, he kept working that day. By the end of the day his hand had doubled in size. He went to the ER and it got really ugly. He almost lost his hand. Please please get it looked at, it sounds like you got bitten pretty severely.
I commend you for being so determined to give this cat a good home, although he's attacked you before. I must say, I don't think I could live with a cat like that, I'd be so scared all the time. Have you thought about contacting that "My cat from hell" guy? I'm serious! He seems to know what he's doing.

Glad you're okay Rose. If this is the worst thing that's happened in 2 years I'm not sure why the thought of having him put down comes up.
BTW, I've been bitten and scratched many times over the years. Never went to the ER or had to take antibiotics. Matter of fact I don't know anyone who has. Keep an eye on it. Any wound can get infected. |

Then, they didn't want him and put him in a kennel for a year all by himself. I adopted him when he was NOT HAPPY. I did not KNOW that he was depressed, and as close to his wild nature as he could be: Exhibit A ![]() He was 18 lbs of pure muscle (he looked exactly like his dad, a breeder kitty). He pee'd everywhere. He communicated by yelling at the top of his lungs when he didn't get his way or wanted to "show me something". He would attack me like a flying bat to get me out of bed at 3AM. Literally pouncing on me. If he saw an outdoor cat, (intruder orange kitty or any other outdoor roamer) he would go berserk. And throw himself against the french glass panes on the front door. When he bites, he clamps down and tears ... my right wrist is covered with scars. He can turn on a dime. He is extremely territorial. When I said he bit me two years ago, he bit me down to the bone and would not let go. He was in an whole different world when he did it...he was wild and trying to kill. Literally. I had to take Doxy. Same behavior: last night when black kitty pee'd on the front screen. ALCs are solitary creatures by nature. Even indoor with my brother and parents, he might as well been left outside to his own devices for survival ... nobody paid attention to him the way that was required to raise a happy, healthy kitty. ...so he isn't quite all the way trained yet. I have worked VERY hard with him and have spent hundreds of dollars to get him from Exhibit A to Exhibit B: ![]() We are still a work in progress. When I told my family about his behavior, their response was "just get rid of him". Or people would say to me, "oh my gosh what happened?" (when they saw my wrist) "I could never live with that..." or "I would throw him across the room / out of the house / etc." The only one that is on meds to manage living with him during difficult times is me. My family ruined him. So I am trying to help put him back together. ![]() |

Wow, the expression change on his face from A to B is truly remarkable! That is one mean kitty in A, it doesn't even look like the same "person" in B!

Rose, please take care of the bite. See a doctor if necessary. I assume Krazee had his rabies shot?
Hon, you have to do what's right for you in dealing with his behavior. From things you've posted about Krazee his behavior has improved in his time with you. From what you posted here he reverted to his wild roots when the black kitty invaded his territory. He was still in attack mode when you came to break up the fight. I doubt he even realized you were who he was attacking. He was ready to fight and you were in his way. It's the same when dogs are fighting. We're warned not to try and break up a dog fight because one of the dogs could bite us meaning to bite the other dog. I'm not surprised he and the other cat were not yowling at each other. Some times when cats are in an all out fight they don't "waste" energy on vocalizing. |

Thanks ((((Liz)))). I didn't know that about wasting energy / so not vocalizing.
He is up to date on all his vaccines ![]() I shoo'd Krazee away with a piece of paper, so I could close the inner door (to stop the fighting between the two)...I tried to back away but he had no idea what was going on and was still in Krazee attack kill mode...he saw my leg and just went for it ![]() After black kitty ran away, I showered the front door and screen with a whole bottle of Nature's Mir. After, it was like nothing happened. He was sweet as pie again ![]() I already called the doctor and have an Rx waiting for me...for just in case. ![]() (thanks so much you guys for understanding and being supportive...I just don't have the heart to give him away. The next home for him would not be a good outcome. He wouldn't survive it. That is why my family gave him to me...and put the responsibility on me. That is one of the reasons why I get so upset when he attacks me ![]() |

I know I used the word "attack", but maybe it would help to think of what happened in different language. It's more like you walked into a running buzzsaw.

(((Rose))),
You know my T and I talked about animals and PTSD too. Remember no one managed him when he was young, or loved him so he only knows what care you give him. You caught him at a point where he was "snappy" like how we get when we get triggered? Perhaps if you think of it that way and not that he doesn't "care" about you, but that this intruder cat "triggered him" and you got in the way of his temper flair. Animals have a short fuse you know and they have smaller brains so sometimes they can get upset and "we" happen to be in the way. I have had that happen with both dogs and horses where I was in the wrong place at the wrong time in their mood/fear/anger/stress taking place. ((Hugs)) Open Eyes |
