Do your pets have any funny habits/tricks?

I love animals, especially cats, they're wonderful companions. They're humorous, too! They have the ability to lift us from our darkest places. They don't even have to try. They're effortlessly amazing.

My cat, Veranda (7 years on the 19th), is a bottled water addict! If you have a bottle of water, she will scratch/slap/nudge your hand, until you either pour some out for her, or let her drink out of the bottle! If I try to hold it out of her reach, she pulls my hand toward her!
She also enjoys sitting on my chest (she's probably 12lbs) and purring, and licking my hands/face, until I get out of bed. She's persistent, too!

My cat, Cassius (1 year on August 5), loves the smell of chocolate! Hershey Kisses are his favorite to sniff, and he'll rub his face all over it. He bothers me until I construct a decent-size ball from the wrappers. Then he actually plays fetch with it.
He must be present while I brush my teeth, or put on makeup.

Cassius is such a character! He loves getting the dog in trouble. He knocks things off the table, and when the dog picks it up and starts chewing it, and gets reprimanded... I swear I see him smirk LOL.

My dog, Shelagh (4 years), grooms my baby. She's very loving and protective of my 6-month-old daughter. If the baby cries, Shelagh goes to check on her. When baby is playing on the floor, Shelagh lays beside her, and will gently groom her. When the baby reaches for the dog, she licks her hands. She's a good 'mommy'! My daughter laughs and laughs at this, she thinks its the funniest thing!

My cat Abby loves to watch the water go round in the toilet. When I'm sitting on the pot she'll pat me on the thigh which means "get up and make the water go round!" Heaven help me if she ever figures out how to flush!

My cat Dobby thinks the bathroom sink is his own personal water fountain. If I go in the bathroom he jumps up on the edge of the sink and howls at me to turn the water on to a trickle so hecan get a drink.

My dog Al "knocks" at the front door when he wants to come inside. He'll thump his tail against the door until I come and open up for him.
Thanks for this!

Ever since she was a kit Puss would jump up straight up into the air against a wall and with her hind legs propel herself off into the air. She'd get some really good height and distance too! How she figured this out I don't know but whenever I play with her and she gets silly she'll do it. Anyone ever see this? It'll crack you up...hilarious!

My dog loves us to scratch under her armpit. If she's laying on her side and you pet her side - she adjusts herself so her front leg is over your hand, to get the armpit scratch. She also expects a few kibble in her bed at bedtime. Also has to say goodbye to both daughters every school morning and watches/barks when their bus comes home. She definitely a habitual dog lol.

quizzickle - when my dog wants to see food on the counter, she does this completely vertical jump as the ears fly up. If somethings within reach - she'll do the jump but with a head lunge to grab the food morsel.

My dog watches the TV and loves animal planet, He will sit and beg at the TV especially if a dog or a cat appears He also knows when it is time for bed I turn the TV off then he will wait at the bottom of the stairs and for me to give him his treat, he will then throw it on the bed for me to play with him and then he will want a cuddle and then he will fall asleep

here goes...he has several funny "habits"!

- Licks plastic bags and water bottle holders.
- When he hears me walking up to the house, he starts meowing as loud as he can, and waits for me by the front door and talks and talks all the way upstairs to the living area.
- He waits all day to go to the box. So I will clean it immediately. He goes, and then screams until I clean it out for him. He watches me do it (just to make sure it's clean?!)
- He wakes me up in the middle of the night if he sees or hears anything remotely interesting. He wants me to see it too.
- He has to play - hard - twice a day, or he gets super grumpy.
- He has his "ways" to get me out of bed. the range goes from 1 to 10. He keeps pushing the envelope.
- He likes to play "where's kitty?" under any blanket or throw.
- When I change the bed linens, he HAS to get on the bed and be under the linens. layer by layer (I have to shoo him away or I'd make the bed up with him in it)
- He eats his food piece by piece outside of his bowl. He lifts it out with his mouth, drops it on the tile, and then eats it.
- As soon as I pour the water in the glass, he has to take a drink before I get any
- He loves dogs (espcially Staffies) and will go out of his way to be near one. If it's another cat, though, he turns into a monster kitty.
- As soon as I turn the shower on in the morning he knows it's time for him to take a nap because I am leaving for the day.
- I ask him if he wants a "cookie" and he runs to his food area for his two L-Lysine.
- If he remotely gets a WHIFF of his Revolution, he RUNS like he is Beelzebub and I have holy water - I have to chase him all over the place just to put a little drop on him. He hates the smell.
- When we go to the vet, he is perfectly well-behaved.
Thanks for this!

My one dog koko, makes my grandma feed her by hand constantly, and she always starts to howl what we think is "mama" or "hello" whenever someone walks into the house, she also likes to eat tic-tac mints we use them as treats, idk if i agree with that for health reasons.

My other dog pipsey has so many quirks, he was the runt of the litter, we taught him how to walk on his hind legs, he has knocked dogs larger than him defore and then proceded to walk off like a bad***, he even picked out a pink rose to bring home to my Mom on one of his walks and then after he got home turned to almost smirk at my sister as if to gloat to her idk he is a weird one

My dog has a habit of running out in front of me when I'm biking. Just 10 minutes ago this happened, unfortunately I crashed and broke the bicycle. Silly dog

Chewing. This afternoon my cat chewed through my 30' cat 5 cable. Soldering 8 tiny AWG-24 wire connections is a PITA. That puts him at about 5 lives left

My older dog, who is normally very shy/anxious of objects, has decided the curbside trash/recyclable cans are the greatest thing on earth. When it is time to take them, she races, circles them, barks the play bark, and tears up and down the long drive as I haul them up and actually tries to play with them, getting into that play stance. If he trash responds, I'm in trouble. She always wants to take the trash out now and will wag her tail every time I get a bag out; who knew trash could be so exciting?!

I discovered his "all right but I don't want to do it" vocalization.

In the past, went I went into a room and closed the door behind me, he would stand at the door and scream until I came out.

So...I tried making that noise (all right but I don't want to do it, that he makes) back to him, and lo and behold, it WORKED/WORKS! He shut up immediately and sat down quietly and waited.

It was hilarious!

It must be a noise a mama cat makes to the babies when she wants them to do something that they don't want to do. That's all I can think of...I know, far-fetched, but he is an ALC so I try everything to communicate with him in a successful manner.

Thanks for this!

Whiskers likes to meow at 4 in the morning or jump on my back and wake me up when his food bowl is empty. I guess he is a night eater, so now I always makes sure he has food before I go to bed, but sometimes I guess I forget and then he gets to wake me up to "serve" him.

My other cat Lilly likes to jump in my lap when I am using my nebulizer and try to knock it out of my mouth by batting it. Lilly also likes to jump on my lap when I am on the toilet. She is a funny kitty.

My old deceased kitty used to love being in the bathroom, he would hang out in the sink and sit by the door waiting for you to let him in. he would meow until I put on the faucet and let him have a drink. But when I tried to give him a bath...forget it! Cats are so funny and they usually don't mean to be.

My cat will start to talk a lot when he's really hungry.
He waits at the door when my boyfriend or I are about to come inside.
He likes to be in the room bf and I are in.
When he's really hungry he will sometimes trip you as you're walking.
He doesn't mind being picked up and I pick him up all the time.
He responds to his name and will almost always turn his ears when he hears his name or move his tail to acknowledge you.
He doesn't like to drink water next to his food.

My dog will freak out if anything gets in her water bowl, a piece of food, lint, or a dead moth and she will act like the world is coming to the end. She will run in fear from her bowl and come pout on the couch till I fix it for her. Did I mention she is a 43 pound basset mix?

Hubby and I once had a cat that loved to go for rides in the car. If we left a car door open he'd jump in and give us the look that meant "Take me for a drive!" Being indulgent pet parents we'd drive him around the pasture a couple of times.

I have two cats who have to be near me at all times. One is currently snuggled next to me, the other is sitting on the arm of the couch.

One cat is definitely smarter than the other. My first cat knows my car. According to my neighbor (who is sitting on her balcony when I come home in the morning), she only comes to the screen to meow when she sees my car...smart girl. She also "talks back." She understands commands and, when she doesn't want to do something (like "get down" or "go") she meows in retort, a sharp little snotty meow. She's also one to sit on my bed, poking at me if she thinks I've slept to long. Like, "Wake up. It's time to feed me and pay attention to me."

The other cat doesn't do any of these things. Probably because she knows they're already being done, haha.

I have a horse who loves me to pull his ears - HARD!

Horses don't usually like this....

One of the cats will grab a mouthful of my hair and YANK if he wants me to get out of bed.

Used to have a cat who would bat my eyelids with a paw if he wanted me to wake up. I swear he figured out if my eyes were open it meant I was awake so he was trying to make them open.
