Horses have been a long term hobby for me, I've been riding for 14 years now. Currently my girlfriend and I own 5 Thoroughbred mares (girls for you who aren't horsey) ages 2-8. These are my girls

Sully is a 7 yr old TB, we got he hopping to make her a show horse, but she has since had an accident and has a fractured knee. So for now she just stands there and looks pretty. Depending on the surgeons advice, we may breed her, or she may have to be put down. I taught her how to smile

My horses!
My horses!

Dee is a 4 yr old TB, she's pretty solid. She's super quiet for a baby, made a terrible racehorse lol. Shes a sale horse for now, but we might keep her.

My horses!
My horses!

Bold is also 4, and a TB. She's my personal horse, and a total goob. She's a bit special and stands on 3 legs. It's kind of odd lol. She's a racetrack reject as well, and isn't showing much promise when it comes to jumping but we shall see. I taught her how to smile as well.

Heart is my girlfriends main horse. She's a 8 year old TB, did pretty well on the track and was was used as a broodmare (had babies) since 2009. We got her and are hoping to make her into a show horse. She's a super sassy mare, but likes to stick her tounge out. It's hysterical really.

Last but not least is Nova. She just turned 2 and is a terror. She never raced, and didn't even have a name till we got her. She's going to be huge, she's already 16.1hh (which is 5'4" at her shoulders) and could still grow up to 6" more). She's got a good personality, just needs work. She's going to be all white when she gets older.

My horses!

That's our herd. I have a Ton more pictures but I won't bore you with them

Oh so nice, I have horses also. Two TBs and a Warmblood and they are my babies.
I've been riding and showing for many years.
When I'm having a bad day, my guys aways cheer me up.

Britneigh, I have two TB geldings, Maverick and Kyote. Maverick is 16.1 and a maniac. He is a giant pasture ornament because I'm unwilling to risk my neck riding him anymore. Kyote, raced until he was 9. Actually, I don't know his registered name because his papers went missing one of the time he changed hands after he retired from the track. He has a wonderful temperament and is a lovely mover. He would've made a nice show horse/hunter, but my showing days are over. We just trail ride now.

Speaking of lovely movers, Dee has a lovely trot. Thanks for sharing your babies with us.

Here's a picture of Kyote decked out in his winter blanket.

Britneigh, I hope Sully doesn't have to be put down! What a beautiful bunch of horses you have! They have great personalities, from what you tell us. I'm not sure I understand something...you're saying Nova is the black horse with a white spot on her? And she's going to be all white when she gets older? I didn't know horses could change color that dramatically! They're all gorgeous!

And your horse is gorgeous, too, lizardlady. Do you have pictures of Maverick, too? I've never ridden a horse (although I think I was put on top of one as a baby), and admit to a slight phobia of them. I'm always afraid big animals like that are going to bite me or turn on me, but the fear isn't bad enough that I won't go with someone who knows the animal and assures me it's not likely to hurt me (obviously, no one can guarantee that, and I take that in mind). I'd love to ride a horse sometime.

Thanks everyone! Kyoto is quite stunning!!! If you can read his lip tattoo, you can find his racing info! That's how we found Hearts, even though we got her from the breeder, they couldn't find her papers. The only non reg one is Nova, but she is super well bred. Her sire is Dunkirk, who's stud fee is currently $10000. I totally understand the little bit manic horses, I've had a few in my day. One was so stressed out in the ring he would sweat just standing there, but is now a happy trail horse for someone.

Thanks Mavin! If she gets the all clear that she won't be in any pain not having her surgery we won't put her down. She's honestly the goofiest horse and makes the most fabulous faces. And yes, Nova will be white. She's actually not 100% black, she's a dark brown with white hairs all through her body, as she gets older she will start getting more and more grey till she's completely white. I totally understand how horses can seem scary, they are big powerful animals. For the most part though they are pretty harmless, Nova is the only spazz of our herd and that's just because she's a baby

Thanks, Britneigh! I see the grey! I love your horses, all of'em. I would so love to pet them and offer them carrots or some treat they'd enjoy!

Maven, horses can be scary because of their size. As for temperament, they are like people some are mellow, some are hyper, some are friendly and some are not. First time you get to meet one, try for one with a kind, loving attitude. I don't think I have any digital pics of Maverisk to be able to post them. He is a very handsome boy, but an abslute maniac under saddle.

Britneigh, I've tried to read Kyote's tattoo. The skin on the inside of his lip is mottled, making it almost impossible to read the tat. I've been searching thorugh the Jockey Club database trying to find him, but no luck so far. It's not really important that I know his registered name, but I'd like to be able to look up his record.
Thanks for this!

Oh for sure. I love looking up my horses on JC and Equibase. I've had 10 thoroughbreds in total (these guys included) and I still look them up all the time. It's neat to see who's related to who and such. Like we found out our one mare Heart is half sister (same dam) to another horse we looked at. Which was funny because they look nothing alike, build wise that is. Pedigrees are fun.

I have a grey TB gelding called Moscow Magic. He's in my avatar and I have albums of pictures from him too.
He won 3 races until he damaged his tendon. I've had him for 2 years, but we've had him for 6 years altogether with his racing career

He is super cute!!! What a cute jump! What did he do to his tendon? *knocksonwood* Minus Sully's accident, everyone has super clean legs and is injury free.

We looked at a new pony last night as Bold and Heart are sale pending. Heart originally wasn't for sale but my GF has some debt she'd like to pay off and hearts sale price would pay it all off. I decided to sell Bold just because she wasn't really working out for what I want, she doesn't want to or like to jump or really work for that matter, so we are selling her as a trail horse and I decided I'm keeping Dee (who we found loves to jump!). The new pony is 14.1 hh so a perfect height and is a resale project if we take her. She's 8 and unbroke but super cute and flashy. Her name is Zowey , but we would change the spelling lol.

Zoey does look like a fun project.
We seem to have lots of unsoundess issues in our horses, especially racehorses. He basically bowed his tendon by straining the tendon sheath. We have tried platelet treatment on him, but it didn't fix the problem. As a riding horse he has not had any unsoundness issues, but you can see the tendon is bowed and he couldn't stand up to the stress of racing.
He jumps absolutely anything and has an awesome jump. I just haven't got stuck into him to start competing

Moscow is just gorgeous!!! So pretty!!!!

And thanks Maven! We are very excited for her. She's only 14.1 h (4'9" if I did that right.) so she is tiny!! Looking at another pony today who's 13.2 hh, his name is Magee. He's even smaller!
