My dad said the reason why my kitten bites so much is because he is teething. Do kittens really teethe? If so, what can I get him to redirect him to bite other things and not me? I got him dental chews but he hasn't grasped the concept of holding something small in his hands and chewing on it, I have to hold on to it for him.

Yes kittens teethe where they are in their teething is part of how to age a cat. But you still need to teach them not to bite. Habits they pick up when they are young they will keep. It is easier to change their habits when they are young rather than older when they are more set in their ways. You don't have to distract him with something he can bite on. Or you can get bigger things that are okay to bite on. My kitties like to bite on stuffed animal toys (made for cats). Any distraction with a toy of any type works. A gentle ''no" and taking away attention also is a good way to include.
