Is kibbles n bits bad?

My dog adores it. We wanted to switch to beneful, it sound like a better food from the ads on tv

Beneful has also had many people complaining about dogs getting sick on their food yet they have done nothing about it.

Commercials are made to get you to buy their foods so they make it sound as healthy and yummy as possible. Lower quality foods are also often sprayed with animals fat to make them more appealing.

Both of those options are not something I'd feed a dog. I would recommend looking up foods like Orijen, Acana, Wellness, Blue Buffalo, etc. if you want to stick with dry dog food. Good luck!

"Kibble" is just that... left overs that you wouldn't feed a dog---oh wait...!

I refuse to feed my dog anything that is not created, fully made in and with US food products.

The FDA has NO guidelines for dog foods (cat horse etc.).. Nada nil nothing. They can put what they want, when they want etc. And there are no sanctions for China for putting in plastic and other poisonous fillers...as they have in the past and again tried to kill our dogs with the jerky poison this last week or so.

Royal Canin, Nutro, Hills Ideal balance are all US made...

Caleb, my former service dog who died from lymphoma in February, was subject to the China melamine poisoning (which also killed my original service dog, Figaro.) I wonder if, though treated before it killed him, it stayed in his system and caused the early cancer?

Figaro had been on Beneful and enjoying it, keeping his weight and energy fine...and then he began bleeding and the vets gave him 6 months. I called the manufacturer and found they had changed the formula. I took him off all dog food and gave him ground sirloin (it had been on sale), green beans and carrots and such and within a week he had stopped bleeding and he lived many more years (I switched him to another food later... and then when I got Caleb, was feeding him Iams which was poisoned and had given Figaro some (felt guilty new puppy was getting expensive food)... it took out Figaro's kidneys (15 yr old healthy dog) and made Caleb sick. (Caleb wouldn't even walk down the side of the aisle where IAMS was thereafter.)

Interesting reads are by homeopathic veterinarians...
they insist all dry food and no wet is not healthy for dogs, who tend to be dehydrated anyway...

Anyway, the very WORST (non) dog food is Old Roys from wally world... if you can't afford anything better, then give the dog away!

My new puppy has turned his nose up on the nutro and the Rachel Ray Dry (no wonder---look at the garbage in the RR food )... He also doesn't like the Ideal balance (in fact when I was feeding him this he was digging earth worms to compliment it...and then when they changed the formula after a few weeks, he refused it altogether.) I may begin feeding him raw natural as he LOVES the things vets say to feed them: raw carrots, green beans and broccoli!!!

I don't have a dog, but I feed my cat Wellness products which is very good. Usually the first ingredients should be chicken or some type of meat you would eat (Salmon, turkey, etc.) and not by products. My general rule of thumb for pets is if you wouldn't eat it they shouldn't either for example spoiled food, food with a lot of by products and fillers, etc.

It appears, after owning my "new puppy" for a year and a half... I have JUST finally (I hope) found food that he will eat consistently...at least he has for 11 days or so...

would you believe it's kibble and bits? Well, the main food is fresh roasted chicken but he needs kibble/dry of course... and after a 1 1/2 years of buying, trying, returning nearly every dog food out there that is good for him (Canin, Blue, nutro... you name it) and all sorts of treats... canned dry whatever... he's settled on chicken and kibbles n bits! he also gets a daily vitamin...

the best news is he has put on 2 pounds in 2 weeks since he settled on this food combo and is eating regularly! He needs another 5 lbs at least.

I think it's the softness of the Kibbles N Bits...not too chewy and not crunchy... now if you know of a better dog food that is the same texture, let me know... I haven't tried it yet!!!
