Mickey and Krissy made their first trip to the vet Friday. Turns out Krissy needs a new name. She's a he! I told the vet to call him Kristopher, but I'm really not crazy about that name. Any suggestions? S/he answers to Krissy so I'm trying to think of something similar.

Mikey checked out just fine. Tests for feline luekemia and feline AIDS were negative. He has a belly full of worms though. That's no surprise given that he had a ton of fleas when I got him. He's growing like a weed. He weighed 1 pound 5 ounces.

Krissy/Kristopher had some problems. He's got manage, an eye infection (probably because of the manage) and worms. Thankfully one medication will treat the worms and manage. I'm back to putting antibiotic in his eyes twice a day for the infection. He only weighed 1 pound 4 ounces. He was bigger than Mickey when I got them. I hope clearing up the other problems will let him start growing again.

I treated both of them for the worms/manage this morning. Started Krissy/Kristopher on the antibiotic Friday. He seems to be feeling better already.

They both go back in two weeks for a check up and their first kitten shots. The vet has a neat package deal for kittens. I pais a flat fee up front that covers all their kitten shots, the office visits for the shots and having them neutered. The package is cheaper than paying as you go.

Have I mentioned how much I love this little devils? They are helping me heal.

Kris, Kristof, Krissel, Krisem?

Those vet packages are nice when they do that; it can be a huge savings. Glad to hear things are going so well. They sure seemed to come along at the right time, meant to be. (((((LL, Mikey, K?))))))

Hi Lizard Lady!
ha, why not a play on sounds? "Ms. He". Sorta sounds the same.

Or go for a gender neutral name. I wasn't sure if mine was a boy or girl, (turns out a boy), so I called him Robin. Fits him perfectly. You could always try Terry or Joey or something that ends with "ee", and see how it goes. KC maybe???? Kristopher Cat??

God bless you for taking them in. Yes, cats are very healing. Reminds me of Robbie, when he showed up as a starving 2 month old the day I was released from the hospital. He stood on my foot and demanded lunch, and he ate an entire cooked chicken breast. The whole thing, and his belly got big n round as a pregnant cat (worms, yuk). A week and $400 in vet bills (tg for the local SPCA), he was in my house and heart, permanently. Thank you for sharing. You have brought back wonderful memories!

Hey, lizardlady, congratulations.

Caesar? Charlie? Crespin/Crespie?

I know you're in love with them. Cats are magic. My cat happens to be a Charlie, a Manx with natural therapy instincts. I searched the state's shelters for six months, drove 500 miles round trip--& he's growing more amazing every week as he approaches his 4th birthday in Sept. Not to brag or anything ...

That sure sounds like an outstanding vet package. Enjoy!!

Thanks for all the name suggestions everyone. Seeker, you make a good point, why not let him remain Krissy? It's not like the other kids are going to make fun of him at school for having a girl's name. I'm going to keep kicking ideas around. Meantime I'm still calling him Krissy around the house.

Roads, I agree cats are healing. Mickey is one of the special ones who owned a big piece of my heart from the get go.

Nummy, it's funny you mention KC for Kristopher Cat. I thought of that this morning.
