Here's another story of crazy things that happened in my childhood.

When I was little we had three rabbits. I named them vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry because of their coloring. I think I might have won them at a carnival. Carnivals used to give you animals like bunnies or chicks and goldfish.

They lived in a rabbit hutch and after they grew up, they were just big, lethargic rabbits that my mom got tired of taking care of.

We had a cleaning lady who told my mom she'd take the rabbits, that her children would love them. So my mom drove her home with the rabbits in the hutch with all their food.

The next time the cleaning lady came back, my mom asked her "How did your kids like the rabbits?" And she said "They were delicious"!

Please tell me that they did not eat the rabbits but I could see my husband doing that. Everytime we see piglets he says I can get 3 of them on my BBQ.

Not the bunnies!!! Why?!?

Seriously though, I love rabbits. They're just the cutest little things - I want one.

I keep having such conflicting feelings about animals as food these days...conflicting disgust/sadness and indifference.

Do we still do that? Coloring animals like rabbits and chicks?

So...we do have 'fluorescent rabbits' now, in search of medicine. They'd better come up with the best medicine in millennia!

Sorry about sidetracking, that was a funny story, k. I'll just get the hell outta here.

It happened in the early 1970's. I don't think they were dyed. Can there really be pink rabbits?
