Folks, could you join me in sending positive energy, good thoughts, whatever works for you for my best friend's cat?

My friend has little to bring her happiness in life other than her two furbabies. One of them is very sick - extremely dehydrated, thin and anemic. She postponed taking Ciara (the cat) to the vet because she's out of work and could not afford it. The vet gave her meds, an iron supplement and some highly nutritious food as well as sub-cu fluids. The next few days are critical.

I realize none of you know her, but could I call on the wonderfuness of PC members to keep Ciara in your thoughts?

Absolutely. Your friends love and devotion will help her sick one.
I'm taking my Foster Fur baby for Spay surgery Sunday. Pray for us too.

Thanks everyone. I talked to her last night. Ciara is eating and drinking, also a little more active. Seems like she is doing a bit better.
Thanks for this!

I talked to her this morning. Ciara is not doing so well today, eating, but not drinking and very lethargic. Please keep those good thoughts coming.

It's been an up and down week for my friend and Ciara. Me too since I love them both. She went to the vet's Tuesday and they were able to draw blood which showed she was anemic and had a slight infection. She also gained a couple of ounces. That might not sound like much, but her weight was down under 8 pounds. A few ounces was a lot.

Back to the vet's office Thursday because she was not doing well. Vet wanted chest and abdominal x-rays which meant another trip on Friday. Chest x-ray showed lung in her chest cavity. They drained 50ccs of fluid from one side and 24 ccs from the other side! They still don't know what's causing all this. The vet said the fluid could be from FIP (a deadly disease in cats) or a plural infusion. She said some times get infusions and they never know why.

Before they did the tap to drain the fluid the vet asked my friend if she wanted them to resuscitate if Ciara crashed. My friend told them "no" because she can't afford it. When she texted me to let me know what was going on I texted back to tell her to tell them to resuscitate, if need be, and I would pay for it.

Talked to my friend last night. She's worn out from the stress of worrying about Ciara. I think we can all relate to that. Ciara came home ate, drank a touch and found a box in the kitchen to nap in. She's been hiding in the bathroom the last week. This all sounds good to me.

The vet sent some of the fluid from her chest off to be tested. We are waiting on the results.

Please keep both of them in your thoughts. It will devastate my friend if something happens to Ciara.

Some tentative good news. Ciara sat up and gave herself a thorough bath yesterday. First time in weeks! She's also been begging for food. Keep those thoughts and prayers coming. They seem to be helping.

The vet sent some of the fluid from her chest cavity to the lab for testing. Folks at the vet's office are still thinking it might be FIP. I hope not.

Meanwhile Ciara continues to have an appetite. She's stopped hiding in the bathroom. She climbed up on the cat tree yesterday so she could look out the window. First time she's done that in weeks.

Please keep sending those positive vibes!
