@pachyderm

I hear you; I don't understand why some memes are made with incorrect English. I mean, my kitties would have spoken like I do and I always use the correctest English I know.

People create them, and many these days do not get instructed in good English and do not value it. Do not value accurate transmission of information.

As you may detect, some incorrect things make me anxious. I have suffered a great deal from some of them. In particular, the ones that are related to "mental illness" and what it is, what are its causes... It is possible to know quite a bit about it, I contend -- but not if you don't understand what you are doing, and are sloppy about it. Even common English language usage is full of such errors, I think.

For example, what does "evil" mean? Or just "bad" or "wrong"? Do they describe some things that exist in "reality" outside of human beings, or do they mix attempted descriptions of reality with feelings about those things?

Writing to clarify my own anxieties.

Here I go again on my soapbox:

George Washington probably lost his life due, not to a disease he caught, but to the medical treatment -- bloodletting -- he received. The ideas doctors of those days had about the causes of disease were incorrect, and cost Washington his life.

We have at this time a Chief Executive who is, to me, clearly unbalanced, and in fact now lives his life on the basis of fears he has. Fears that, I feel confident, originated in mistreatment in his childhood. He feels that any approach to his fears is a danger to him, and to some extent he is correct. People do not react to him calmly, with understanding of what is going on, but instead react with fears ("evil", "bad") of their own -- and thus they cannot provide any constructive solution to the problems he presents. Society is not responding constructively.

There are consequences!

Oh Oh! OMG! Talking about politics!

Here's another example that people here will probably dismiss: this morning I heard on the radio that there is a traffic snarl on the George Washington Parkway, and that police are responding. What if their response was to attack some of the drivers as "evil" for causing difficulties for other drivers? Their anxieties could cause the situation to worsen, not get better. There can be severe consequences for people reacting, not with understanding of troubles and what to do about them, but instead on the basis of emotions which they do not understand. Errors can have consequences.

Another example from my own life: I got a cat from the local animal shelter. After some time, this cat began to attack me without warning. I got some kind of infection from its scratches, and had to go to the hospital emergency room, and was there for several days. It cost me, and the rest of society in the form of paying my insurance. No one saw that this cat (I think) was reacting in fear to some events in its past life, but instead they tended to condemn the cat. I eventually took the cat back because I could not deal with it. I do not know what happened to the cat after that, but she may have lost her life (euthanized) because no one was able to try to understand what was going on with this cat. They gave her to me without considering the consequences. And no one paid attention.

Anxiety.

I hear you. Trump frightens me. Infections from cat scratches are horrid and life-threatening! I am sorry you had to go through that.

Omg, you live in DC? What is that like? I would LOVE to see the Smithsonian!

I live in the DC area.

The Smithsonian covers a lot of things. Many museums, the zoo, scientific programs, and so on.
