Found a fairly recent picture of Boomer. Looking at the pic and thinking of how he looked the last few days he went downhill fast. Boomer going to the vet

I'm so sorry, liz. At least you were able to try to get him some help and you spent the end times together. He was a pretty kitty.

(Sorry I'm late on responding.....)

What a beautiful baby boy, LizardLady. I'm sure you miss him very much. Allow yourself as much time as you need to grieve. It's hard losing one of our precious babies!!

If I was there with you, I'd fix us a cup of tea, maybe we would sit outside in the sun, looking at your rose garden...just sitting with you in your pain.

While I can't do that for you, know we are all here for you and I am holding you in my thoughts.

Wishing you sweet memories of your boy to comfort you in your loss.

Hugs Kit

The vet called with his lab results. Nothing that stood out. Reduced kidney function and a UTI, but nothing major. We both think he just "wore out."

I was hoping the lab results would point to something major that had not treatment. The vet did tell me that she didn't think there was anything more we could have done for him.

Damn, the tears are starting again...

Yes, just like some old people die of "being too old," animals can, too. It's like, as you suggest, the organs are just worn out from years and years of work. Sounds like he had a good life. I know you'll miss him. I still my all my kitties who have passed on. Each cat is truly unique and to be cherished for being themselves.

How are your other kitties doing? We haven't heard about them in a while.

Trav, thanks for asking about the rest of the crew.

This going to sound weird, but I left his body in the house for awhile so they each got a chance to see him. I read years ago that helps them with processing one of the crew died. Beeg had the oddest reaction. He got this very confused look on his face. It was like he knew something was wrong and did not understand.

The cats are all extra cuddly. Don't know if it's them missing Boomer or they sense I'm upset and are comforting me.
