Thought folks here might be interested in this. Some diabetic cats can now be treated with a daily pill instead of insulin shots. It's not appropriate for all cats with diabetes, but great for those who do not want to stick their cat twice a day.

Thanks, liz. My precious Sidney was diagnosed with diabetes in July of 2021. My life is scheduled around her care, but that's okay because she is so intelligent, wise, and cooperative. She truly is "x-tra sweet" in every way. She receives insulin twice/day, but home testing (meaning testing Sidney's glucose levels) is essential. So my sweet tuxedo lady gets poked in the ear-tip 4 times/day to monitor her blood glucose. Some days, if her glucose is too low or too high, we have to do more pokes. Those are very hard days, because I hate to have to keep sticking her, plus I worry terribly when Sidney's levels aren't good.
Someday for sure, kitties and owners will be able to treat feline diabetes with a pill. Wow!
