My ferrets, Oliver is the white one and Simon is the one sleeping. They never fail to make me smile even when it seems impossible!

I love your awesomely cute ferrets!

I have a kitten named Jake who looks like a cross between a Maine-Coon, a ferret, and a raccoon. I'll have to put a picture up later!

I added a pic of my kitten on my profile now. He's stretching.

Yeah, I'm too lazy to figure out to host it on Photobucket and put it here

I was going to add I got into ferrets largely as a result of having a watch mongoose in Viet Nam. It would kill the cobras and kraits at the showers. Mongoose are about the size of a standard cat, about 8 pounds. We had a bear as our actual mascot though.

I talked to someone involved in breeding the blackfooted ferret back into existence. Domestic ferrets have 38 chromosomes, blackfooted and Steppe ferrets have 42 chromosomes. So the blackfooted ferret is half Steppe. Ferrets also have the same number of teeth as a dog. They are now the third most popular pet in the world

My first two ferrets lived to the age of 13 years. Since them, most have lived to 10 years and healthy. Accident got one at age 4 and one went into a coma after a surgery on a small ear tumor. Knowing they can live to 15 years, that's my goal. Best I do is get them vaccinated, feed the best food possible and keep a safe play area. The two first ferrets were fed Marshall's because it was the only one available back then. I feed them Natural Gold which is 52% protein and practically zero carbs. I also feed them Foster's & Smith Natural. All 5 are healthy. My oldest had two teeth pulled about 18 months ago. Heck they have 42 teeth (same as a dog), losing two molars is nothing.

Not my pet, but the story that is told is that this fawn followed the beagle through the doggy door into the house:
