I have been working on this question for weeks now and living with binge and restrictive eating for many years. I am still trying to understand the reasoning behind my urges to binge or to restrict. My urges to restrict I find easier to understand why but the binges I just can't understand. It's like I'm trying to fill an empty void...anyone else know why they ever get the urge to binge? Thanks,

It's always been easier for me to understand why I restrict but with binging it's a whole different ball game. Bulimia has so many behaviours and I guess I do each of them for a different reason but I don't know exactly why I binge. I've always ate my feelings/emotions, especially at night but who knows. Hopefully when I see the Eating Disorder clinic, they will help me figure it out.

![]() From what I have heard so far on just 2 of the cds, the info in this program has some of the answers you're looking for! Feel free to check with me on how the program is working. I still have 4 cd's to go and now I want to order the book also because there is just so much great scientific info about WHY we do what we do. For example if your Vitamin D is low you will be hungry ALL THE TIME and two thirds of the population are deficient. I really think his information could give you hope and help you be more understanding of yourself. It's helped me tremendously to understand why I eat the way I do and not be so self-condemning. I truly hope it can help you also! ![]() |

Just wanted to update you on some more info I found out today through Dr. Amen's "Change Your Brain, Change Your Body". As it turns out, food hits the same feel good receptors in the brain as morphine and heroin. If someone has an addictive personality, ADD, depression, or history of addictions in their family (smoking, alcoholism, drugs, etc), then it's easy to see why food could be a problem.
