Hello everyone,
Food has always been my go to when I am stressed out/bored/ect. I'm undergoing a lot of stress as of recently. I've gained a lot of weight, more than I care to share, and I'm trying to kick the habit. Everyday is a battle with my brain. What are some suggestions to stop this bad habit? What are some good thought processes, sayings, etc. to remember when the urge and addiction arises? Appreciate the help. |

Hello! Alas, I tend to be an emotional eater, too. That is, when I am upset, I look for comfort foods (which usually end up being fattening ones.) How to help? Well, I can sometimes distract myself by getting busy with other things. Like, when I'm typing at the computer my hands are not free to stuff my face.
Also, it helps to talk out our problems. Are you in therapy? Exercise. (I don't like that word either.) But something like going for a walk can get us away from food (no carrying any along), plus help with additional pounds. I hope that's a start anyway! ![]() |

Welcome Samara!
I guess there are a number of approaches you could take when the urge to eat arises, but of course the level of success you experience will depend on a bunch of different things. Is it a bad habit, or is it more on the addiction side of things? Can you do something different when you want to, or are you powerless over the obsession and compulsion to eat? If it's the later, distraction. Or picking another activity could help. But if it's more serious, you may need help in changing. And we are here regardless. ![]() |
