So I guess it's true what they say: taking life one day at a time really does work. And it's helping me recover, slowly but surely. I sure have a lot more sanity around food than I did this time last week. I found too that another thing that helped is the deal I made with myself: no matter how bad a day/meal/binge goes, I keep going. I don't give up. And not only that, but I count it as part of my recovery and move on.
I can't believe how much it's changing my perspective. And my definition of success. I no longer feel like it's a losing battle. And right now, just for today, I actually feel like I can beat this thing. Just thought I'd share a little hope and encouragement with y'all. No matter where you're at in your journey, how you define your experience, or how you choose to recover, it's possible. ![]() |

Great news that today was good. I really do think there is something to that one day at a time. As well as the support you are getting from so many places. I have confidence that you will make it. I am not talking about dieting or losing. I am talking about deeper levels of recovering. Perhaps we always will be in recovery. I do not know. But having the eating under control does not always mean recovering. for you, I feel that you are in recovery. The good thing about the road of recovery is that its strewn with all sorts of things. Even on those horrible days where things seem so out of control etc, it is part of the journey if we still are on that journey. Well, thats what I think anyway

That's what I choose to believe as well, just for today. Everything is a part of the whole, and mistakes are not only accepted but welcome.

![]() After a few weeks of not bingeing, i binged for 3 days straight earlier in the week, and i felt so incredibly ashamed of myself and disappointed. But you are right-one day at a time works, and i just need to remember that ![]()

One day at a time is the hardest thing I can think of-i dwell on the past and look into the future too much which I know is not a good thing. We have to live in the present, and do the one day at a time, basically as it is the only way, there's no choice, but if we want to live the right path we need to do so too.

I have managed to meditate most mornings in the last couple/few weeks and even though I'm just beginning I've already noticed a big shift. And whenever I catch myself obsessing or a million miles away I focus on the present, take a few breaths, tune into the moment. Baby steps but it's working.
