Hello - I've never posted on this forum before, nor have i talked about this with my T, but I know I have a problem with eating. It is something I've struggled with since I was a little girl...I eat to manage all kinds of feelings, but especially loneliness, anger and shame. I notice I go back and forth from overeating to starving myself. It's like I cannot find a happy balance of just eating healthy for the sake of caring for myself. I see food as a tool for harming almost and I know it's not good.

Calorie counting sends me into an obsessive tailspin. I can't seem to see food in the right light. Not sure what I'm asking for but just needed to get it out there. Thanks for listening...

I kind of know that feeling. I eat all the wrong stuff and too much of it. My friend thinks I am eating to stay fat so I don't have to deal with dating or interest from men in general!!

hi. Glad you joined. I think its great that you took this step. From my own perspective I sure do understand your words. Up and down. The love of starving for periods of time. The love hate relationship of overeating for periods of time. Thats a synopsis of my past. A healthy relationship with food is possible. I do not starve anymore. Nor do I eat unhealthy junk food. The longing has not yet been healed. Its all a work in progress. Its a process that can have a very good result. Peace of body and mind.

You joined here. You put it out there..... in an insightful way. Thats a good foundation on which you can build healing in the future. Other people have done it. And you are not alone !! Slow steps can be the most important ones. So I hope you will feel good that you joined here and are posting. I hope you will continue to do that. And in time hopefully you can even reach out irl. This is a great first step !!

Some people say that overeating and fat can be like protection. I think it may be true for some people. And probably not true for others.

Hi, this is the first time I have posted on this forum too. I know exactly how you feel, I also go thru overeating and then periods of starving myself. I have done this all my life and I don't know how to stop!

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
