hi i have a question which is genuine but aybe a bit dumb so i apologise in advance if it is . what is the difference between comfort eating and an actual disorder ? , how do i know if i have a disorder ? ,i have lately been eating and eating even when not hungry , i am gaining weight quite quickly which i hate but cannot seem to stop the eating even as im doing it i get angry with myself but carry on and then regret it . sometimes i think i just dont care , any feedback or advice would be welcome. thanks

I am glad you asked the question because I never thought about this before.

I am sorry you are gaining weight. Have you considered changing the type of foods you are eating. Carbohydrates tend to encourage binge eating because they spike the blood sugar level and when it crashes the urge to eat more is felt because of low blood sugar levels. Alcohol has a similar although more pronounced affect.

thank you for your reply , i am eating a lot of fruit but could cut down on the biscuits !!! i am having slight acohol issues too so i guess weight gain is inevitable thanks again for response i will check out the links .
