My great-niece is 18 years old. An "adult" by law (ridiculous, but true). She has been homeless for the past couple of months, my family and couldn't locate her, then she turned up in the psych hospital. She is currently an inpatient. She has bipolar 1. She is a very bright, talented young woman. In a week she will be dumped out of the hospital. My family and I are desperately trying to find some kind of safe housing for her. Has anyone had experience with a situation like this? What have you/your family done? Thanks in advance.

Thank you MM for your reply. Partial hospitalization would be excellent for her, but she still needs a place to live. That's what my family & I are trying to get her hooked up with...a group home or some kind of housing in which she is supervised, takes her meds, etc.

Have you looked into getting a case worker from dhhr (dcf) or a private company where their sole job is finding service for people in need. If you pm me the area I can search.
