My best friend is seventeen and we're pretty close and I've noticed that she's been acting differently for a while now and we always get reminded of this website at college so I thought this was the best idea. Basically I asked her today what has being going on like I sat her down because I know she self injures because I've seen it when her sleeves have slipped up and I didnt get a lot out of her only that she thinks that life isn't worth living and that she's going to fail college and at first I though it was just worrying about grades and stuff but she said sometimes she want's to die?? I know she drinks quite a bit sometimes on her own and she smokes a lot but again that can just be age right?? But then sometimes when I'm with her she seems fine like even better than fine and I'm so confused I know it's not a lot to go off but should I be worried??

I think you should be worried. Self harm. Wanting to die. Drinking alot. Those can be symptoms and signs of an underlying problem.
The thing is is she willing to reach out for help. You can't force her. You can encourage her. Maybe she will come on these forums and read.

Thanks, I just don't know what to do or what to suggest in case I offend her. I suppose it's not really my place to publicise how she feels but I'm just scared of losing her
